scott beeland Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Wasn't long before somebody had to bring it down to insults Now; I accept I was having on online dissagreement with Harv (not the 1st) but you'll note the absence of name calling; as we're all adults with hopefully a good dose of respect for each other. .... Want to start calling people tw**s etc. on a public forum then go find the "Revs" site or something similar
Martin Keene Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I think I'll now leave this sensible debate... Edited to add: That's not aimed at you Stu...
Peter Cox Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 profile deleted opinion still held "I'd rather be, with a few exceptions, a bunch of nunneys than an opinionated faceless ass"...so said Groucho Marx in "Let's go to the fair", 1938. "Unless, of course, you're a 7ft, 18st, karate black belt stalker with a penchant for semi-automatic weapons and a desire to gut those who cross your path with a hunting knife. In which case, I am Bunchoftwaticus." Kirk Douglas in the straight to video sequel to Spartacus, 1963.
juansolo Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 You doubt the wisdom of the mighty Donkey When a plague of frogs is rained down upon you all you'll be sorry... You watch!
Guest Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 they have no idea who he is ....... and how surprising that comment is from a man of his standing.
jackal Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 "Wasn't long before somebody had to bring it down to insults" believe you me, from where i'm standing your contribution was far far lower in tone
Renmure Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 It was turning into one of those threads where anyone who disagreed with anyone else still voiced the opinion that the other party might also be right and in any case had the right to disagree. Slightly cyclical... but less so than here
Bazzer Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 There is nothing wrong with poeple making choices about the level of risk they are prepared to take. There is something wrong with people trying to pretend and perhaps mislead people that things are safer than they are. People read this board and take peoples opinions as fact. An RAC roll bar will provide little protection for things intruding into the cabin. Things like tyres on race tracks spring to mind. A roll bar that does not have the propper clearance above your head will not help you at all in a roll over. It is just providing drag and you would be faster without it !!! A car helmet is constructed to cope with accidents where the wearer is strapped in and is likely to suffer multiple impacts. A motorcycle helmet is designed for accidents where the wearer is thrown from the vehicle and has to deal with impacts and abrasion. It will generaly be heavier which is a disadvantage if you are strapped in. A cage on a car that is used on the road with occupants without helmets on is a sure fire way to scramble your brains in an accident. The last thing is I think it is sad that in this case like with Leons accident we feel the need to give the poor people who have damaged there pride and joy and in this case been injured a hard time about it. Bazzer PS There is no way you would have seen the spill in time comming over the blind crest. Any one who thinks they would, has never driven it.
Scuffers Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 seems somewhat strange to me that you are all arguing about basic saftey stuff, yet seem to have not a clue about what it all does/means... for example, bike helments are not the same as motorsport car helmets, they ahve different requirments, hence the use of Snell and other tests regimes. the BS ones are now all banned by the FIA and MSA only allow ONE BS type now, that that HAS to be 6658 type A/FR, (NOT type A), this will expire soon also. right, that stuff asside, scott beeland seems to have absolutly zero brain, for two reasons, (1) cleary he has no clue how to respond to such a thread and (2) I am supprised nobody had taken the oppotunity to show him the error of his ways so far in his life. if you ever have the hmiss-fortune to have an 'off', I for one would not be arsed to p*** on you, let alone offer any help or simpathy.
Guest Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 the only reason i slowed bazzer was because i saw the intial tyre smoke ...... i posted the vid to remind people what can go wrong ,and it was done with the person concerned aproval.
Bazzer Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 In this case Harv I now you were not blaming Rich for the accident, but others did. But I do think you and others were a bit harsh on Leon the other day. I do also agree with you about the safety equipment. I know there are failings in my current setup but I acknowledge them and am addressing them. Bottom line is 7 type cars are blindingly fast around a track for what they cost. The cost for this is the fact that they don't offer an awfull lot of protection. If you want the performance and the protection you have to open you wallet. If you don't want to do that be aware of the possible consequences. Bazzer PS Hope you feel better soon Rich. Opourtunity to to build a faster one [+]
Guest Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 the leon video was clear cut .......... i may have been harsh but its pointless not admitting you screwed up.
