thos Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Did the Honda go after lifting-off or from hitting the coolant ?? Looking at the Honda footage it looks like he came wide out of the corner, missing the coolant, sees 2 se7ens blocking the track, lift's off and meets the barrier.
JeffC Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 just my opinion but it looks to me as if the second westy after slowing down along side the damaged car gave the quicker car limited options of where to go, I reckon looking at the line he was on had he not spun off matters could have much worse... sh*t happens but at least everyone lived to tell the story .. ps. where is that circuit ?
thos Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Just re-reading the post again, it appears Harv is the second car, tut tut.

timd Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 That's a thrid of the value of my car for f##ks sake... I'm really going to spend that much of safety gear? I wasn't going to post on this thread, but I really don't understand these points... Whilst I believe it's down to the individual to decide whether they do or don't want to fit a cage or drive naked with no rollhoop or seatbelt , and that therefore most of this thread is completely pointless; surely if you really want to bring it all down to cost and "value" it should be of a proportion of whatever you value your own life at, not the value of the car, or the cost of the trackday entry etc? At the point of impact, or the few seconds leading up to it, I can guarantee that you won't be thinking "ooh, I spent £x on this car and it's going to get broken", or " that's the entry fee for this trackday/hillclimb/race down the pan". It'll be much more like "Feck, I'm going to die"!
mg_dot Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Mr Al, I can assure you that if Richard had made a mistake he would have got a good talking to from the usual suspects, and he would probably of listened as some people actualy know what they are talking about. Comparing the 2 situations is like comparing chalk & cheese. I think you fail to comprehend Buzzez, it's not like here where you pat each other on the back even when a mistake is made (how is anyone gonna learn anything from that), in fact it's the opposite and we regularly extract the urine from each other. People came here to read this thread as they were actually there and know what happened.
Peter Cox Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Latest news is that old TV actors have entered the opinion nebula and located the source of the energy shield. It says, "Das..oard" and scientists are baffled.

It'll be much more like "Feck, I'm going to die"! Agreed. It is not the best way of summing it up, but as a measure of disposable income I think it works. My car is worth about £5k, therefore I'd be very surprised if people think I have enough cash lying around to spend £1500 on safety gear. I will agree that it is down to how much you want to spend, some people may have the same diaoosable income as me and feel they want to spend £1500 on safety gear.
timd Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Agreed. It is not the best way of summing it up, but as a measure of disposable income I think it works. Ok, fair point. Just sounds wrong somehow to me!
Bazzer Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Just because you cant afford the safety kit, it does not mean you wont need it. If you are happy with that then thats cool. But I don't see why people are getting upset when this is pointed out to you. The tyre that comes into the cockpit when you hit the tyre wall will not give a damn how much disposable income you have or don't have !!!! Bazzer
Gromit Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Would waffles be better in an impact because of the progressive crushing that would take place, there-by limiting the deceleration forces. Oh cousre these would need to be grilled as frozen ones would shatter in impact.
mg_dot Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I didnt say Richard or Leon made a mistake! They were both accidents, no matter what the cause....Kick one of them when he's down, but not the other... yawn.... Yawn indeed. If you really must go back and drag up the dirt again you'll see (if you remove those blinkers) Harv was sympathetic right up to the point the video came out to show exactly what did happen. No one likes to see anyone smash up their car, but there's no point in telling someone it wasn't their fault when it was. Off to snooze somewhere else now cos if you can't see that point all hope is lost.
mg_dot Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Just make it Belgium waffles so it's not completely OT

I have nothing against Harv and some of the things a people on hear disagree with him about I agree !!! But I do think it would have been better to keep his views on Leons accident to himself. Bazzer
