Peter Cox Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 The reason Rich did not get critisied for his accident was it was not his fault , trust me he would have expected to have it pointed out to him if he had in fact he values the fact people would stop him doing it again . Leon was a total plank , it has been said buy everyone off the wscc that has seen that video , including 2 very very experienced instructors , sorry if you don't like it but it was said because he claimed it was not him it was the car . I personally couldn't give a f**k about the wscc and its why i would never give it any money , there is so much crap advice given here thats actually misleading its untrue . Donkey dave found that asfter looking at the forum to get setup for hi car .........he has since found the opposite to be tru of a large majority of advice on this forum , i'll always stay because i basically enjoy winding you lot up , your so clueless its easier than teasing a group of 5 year olds Why send this in a PM harv.... oops...why has a hushed, but probably temporary, silence just fallen over the party. BTW, can you have a "hushed silence"? Is it silence, but turned down?

neilb Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Funny how things change - 3/4 way down page 2 Isn't a hushed silence, a silence that has been caused by poeple hushing?

It's more hyperbole, but not quite similarly different.

Boomy Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I only got O'level English so with that in mind the best reply i can come up with is to simply jig around the room to this funky tune...sorry IT IS TIME TO GET FUNKY!
Martin Keene Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I think I'm going to have to agree to disagree on this one. Harv seems to be suggesting that the minium sensible pre-cautions for a track day are: Full Cage: £800 (Figure as used by Harv) Snell Crash Helmet: £267.90 (Bell Sport 3 from GPR) 3 Layer Nomex Overalls: £267.10 (Sparco Sprint 5 from GPR) Nomex Underwear: £137.25 (Sparco Nomex bottoms, top, socks & balaclava from GPR) Nomex Gloves:£41.45 (Sparco Preimum from GPR) Nomex Boots: £74.03 (Sparco Speedway from GPR) Total Cost: £1587.73 And, within reason, these are the cheapest products that met those specs. That's a thrid of the value of my car for f##ks sake... I'm really going to spend that much of safety gear? I accept that what I use (RAC Bar, Motorbike lid, Proban overalls, no nomex underwear, std gloves and boots) is not the best, and that is a risk I'm prepared to take. I don't apreciate being told that what I have is not sufficient and I need to spend more money. If I die driving my car, then so be it. I couldn't honestly think of a way I'd rather go. On the job maybe, but apart from that... Goodbye.
mg_dot Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 And all the posts about "bow down in front of the donkey". sheesh childrens playground, pat each others back on your other forum or what.... <!--emo& Absolutely. Can't be worshipping a diety like Donkey when there are rabbits with pancakes on their heads to be considered. I'll shape up in the future and only post amusing pictures of kittens for your critique. I assume a Buzzez link cropped up here then. Well you see if you knew Donkey you'd know he is not a person to jump to incorrect conclusions, or make inflamatory remarks to troll forums. He's just right. Most of us just wouldn't say that, we'd just think it & then wander off to another forum to discuss summat else, or send a PM for some other Muppet to make public.
Mrs Westy Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 That's a thrid of the value of my car for f##ks sake... I'm really going to spend that much of safety gear? I'm not expressing an opinion one way or another because it's your choice (although if people have loved ones, personally I think it's irresponsible to take the attitude that hey ho something might happen, because it's not just *your* life being ******'d with). But in terms of the cost as a proportion of the value of the car, I see where you're coming from, but only one of those items is attached to the car and all the others can be yours for many years and many more cars to come, so in the longer term it could be better value for money.
Martin Keene Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I know I said I stop posting on here. But thats a fair point I should answer. Very true only one is attached to the car, but somehow spending money on the car or all the other things it life somehoe seem easier to justify. I should 'fess up and say I have spent money on a new set of gloves. And maybe if my brief sprinting carerr from this year takes off next year, I will *look* at changing the other bits as I go. But at the minute, there are no plans, apart from a wedding to pay for...
michaelcoombs Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I think we have missed an important issue here….. Welsh Cakes. …surely we should have one of our welsh colleagues around to defend the protective qualities of the Welsh Cake.
Guest Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Martin can i just clarify something ......... yes i do think they are the safest requirements but not the minimum . I did also say it depended on the level of track use your car gets But i also pointed out that the video showed an incident that could have happened to an ocational track user so that risk is always there. An RAC bar is ok , but a standard bar isn't , any bar needs to be of the correct height . The risk of fire is less than the risk of injury when you have poor protection , so fireproof 3 layer is your choice although most caged cars are driven by people who choose overalls as well. And yes i did take take time away from trackdays and spend trackday money for each and every safety item along the way . Its been said all along its down to your personal risk level but if you are doing a significant level of trackdays then would you not then think that after seening what can happen ,and there have been a few lately then the sensible money is on adequate protection. Whats wrong with advise based on sound facts ? and the tin top is proved safer than the 7 in that video , if you watch the new version. with the camara view from the 7 ,the circuit, and the honda the honda seat collapsed but the driver and passager walked away fine having actually had a harder impact ..........
Peter Cox Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 ...it's like a black hole of opinion, growing in intensity and mass as it increasingly disaffects open-minded people. At this rate, I'll run out of popcorn.
Boomy Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Safety shmafety, pah. I drive like a loon around lanes that are miles away from any medical help in just my speedos with a roll bar thats made from 400 paper clips joined together.
Boomy Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 At this rate, I'll run out of popcorn. THIS MAY HELP?
