KerryS Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Following a thread on Newbies lead by Mat1800, we have been looking at a number of ways to upgrade the Ford injection to TBs. Here is our latest possibility. As a service to fellow WSCC members I have been in discussion with WF over an upgrade to the "Madness" module build kits ONLY, that is, 1800 Zetec, Ford single throttle body, MBE 967 ECU as supplied by WF under various names such as Spring Offer, Special Offer, Summer Madness etc. If there is sufficient SERIOUS interest, they will supply kits of 4-off throttle bodies, manifolds, gaskets, filters, extra fuel pipes and fixings, fitting instructions and a re-map for your ECU for £1200 inc VAT. The ECU can be posted to WF who will re-map and return to you. The fuel pump, filter and tank remain as standard. To do this they would need a sensible deposit to initiate the necessary development. You can liase with me or Mark Walker at the factory on this for more details. A possible way forward is for a 30% deposit be paid to WF, returnable if an insufficient number respond. Mat and I have spent some time on this issue and we think this represents a really good deal from WF for members. The benefit is in that the MBE ECU is retained and re-mapped. WF have said if folks are on carbs they can do something but at more cost, ECU, fuel pump, regulator, pipes etc. Hope this is of interest to Madness owners. Mat is still pursuing kits for non-Madness owners. Kerry S Quote
Blatman Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Blimey. Well done Westfield Sports Cars Ltd A saving of over £570 pounds compared to the previous deal. You'd be mad not to... Quote
itguy Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Thats really cool, Perhaps yours will go like mine then Seriously - thats good going, as you will still be using the lambda sensor too with the mbe I presume? Good work! Quote
Major Stare Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Perhaps yours will go like mine then Mine would if you sell me your bike TB's and ECU for my car Oh, well done Kerry Quote
KerryS Posted October 1, 2005 Author Posted October 1, 2005 A saving of over £570 pounds compared to the previous deal. You'd be mad not to... Exactly - but we need at least 8 definites to cough up the money Kerry S Quote
itguy Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Those bike TBs I was constructing have already been sold I'm afraid - expect a black pinto to be coming your way with them fitted soon - a-la Bob Green. Bob had his hands on those before I even bought my new car or sold the old one - I'd only just mentioned it in passing that I might be looking for a new car and they were gone Will Quote
MAT1800 Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Congrats to Kerry for sorting this one out I'm also very glad that Westfield Sports Cars Ltd, Have come through for club members with this offer. We can get the necessary Kit, with a good discount, and from the people who know our cars the Best. Re-mapping the MBE ECU will certainly help us madness kit owners keep the costs down. Kerry, don't forget that Westfield Sports Cars, have said that if this kit is fitted to modular built cars, that their warranty will stand as normal. So even less worries for those madness kit builders out there. I have spoken to at least four other suppliers about this Bulk Buy. They all offered very good products with proven track records and although all were extremely helpfull and wanted to be invloved, this does seem like the best deal we are likely to be offered. And the assurance of it being supplied by Westfield Sports Cars makes it, in my opinion, the best deal for madness kit owners to upgrade to TB's that we will get. I will be going for this one myself. I am though still trying to get a bulk buy of DCOE's sorted for those members who wanted to do more of their own thing, and just need the key parts sorting. I will follow this up now and keep you all posted. Mat. Quote
jak Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Does this deal give us the same injection set up as the speedsport or is it the budget version with the carbon effect throttle body? John. Quote
Blatman Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 they will supply kits of 4-off throttle bodies IE, like a Speedsport. The conversion, if done to a plenum injected 1.8 should take power from 105bhp to around 135bhp. Add in a pair of 2.0l cams, and say hello to ~150bhp yet retain OEM reliability, pretty much... Quote
jak Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Kerry, How soon do you need to know. I mentioned it to Deb, after a sharp intake of breath, she did n't say no. I would say I could get it passed by SWMBO, so put me down as a strong possibility. How much interest as there been? John. Quote

He's said to contact him if more info needed. My understanding was that it was as per 1800 Sport. I did check it wasn't the aly plenum box thingy that was at Stoneleigh but was unaware of another option. Suggest ask about timescale too. I guess if you cough up the 30% deposit you won't need to find the rest until collection, just a guess. I had knowledge of this the oither night, which is why I asked you what you had hoped the cost would be and it meets your expectations, it just wasn't confirmed until Friday. So if you're in, that's 5 more needed. Kerry S Quote

Gavin Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Hi, I am really intrested in this offer but I am not sure what ECU is fitted to my car. I have just been into the garage to have a closer look and all I can find is a sticker on it with the following information; 97ab-hb cadiz hoax made in spain. Is there anyone who can enlighten me as to what ECU this is. I have some pics of it too but don't know how to upload them but I could email them to one of you if you like. Many thanks, Gav. Quote
KerryS Posted October 2, 2005 Author Posted October 2, 2005 Gavin Can't really help, but it sounds like you haven't got the "Madness" spec unless WF changed them at some point in supply. As specified by Westfield, there is a re-map of the MBE 967 ECU included in the £1200, any other ECU would be extra cost. I can only suggets you speak to Mark Walker at WF unless there is better knowledge on here from someone. Kerry S Quote
