Blatman Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I don't have enough holiday left for this year, what with Speed Series, 2 holidays, and the odd track day here and there. Blatgirl has a whole load of holidays to take before June. You have a PM........................... Oh yeah, I think we should let Nick inside the house to watch. He does drive a Vx after all................... Quote
Nick M Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Funnily enough the idea of sharing a sofa with you held little appeal for me either But otherwise the plan has some merit Apart from the bit about me being outside. If it's the British GP that would probably mean it's raining !! Quote
Nick M Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Good point !! And one day it might grow up into a 2.0 VX Quote
Blatman Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I was planning on turfing you both out as soon as the post race interviews were over, unless it's that boring a race that we fall asleep before the chequered flag.............. or you bring a lot of beer Quote
Nick M Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Oooh that's charming that is !!! Gee, you bring the rum, I'll bring the beers !! Quote
HarvSurrey Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 i just hope the F1 boys left the track clean and tidy as the westy arrives there 3 weeks today !!!! Thankyou BookaTrack. Quote
Blatman Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Just need to clarify that A) it doesn't clash with a SS round, and B) got to get it past Blatgirl as a good idea........ :0 Now, where's that Interflora number, and my credit card....... Quote
gee_fin Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I keep forgetting we're into the Euro rounds now *slap* Have they got ChampCar digital yet? Quote
Blatman Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 ChampCar Digital........not AFAIK, but I'll check......tomorrow, 'cos I'm going home now............... Quote
steppenwolf Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Sadly, I agree with most of what you have all said about the recent GPs, they really have been very boring. However, not sure about knocking James Allen ... he may not be an exciting character but apart from his inane comment about pronunciation of girlfriends' last names and Brundle's amusing refusal to help out he is technically reasonably sharp and just think, they could have gone all 'lefty' on us and got Louise Goodman instead ........ yeeeeaccchhhh It's bad enough to not finish a race but to have to answer her inane questions as well would be more than most could stand! - Ducks to avoid flames from rev limiters. I hope Steppenwolfess doesn't read this ..... No, come to think of it, she'd agree Quote
Si Stocks Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 The main issue with F1 now is the lack of action, other than at the start and around the pit-stops. Personally I find the BTCC much more entertaining as there is so much more to watch. As a 4 wheeled enthusiast it pains me somewhat to say this, but if you want non-stop action, overtaking, constant lead changes etc etc you've got to go a long way to beat the World Superbikes (or British Superbikes for that matter). Granted Bayliss has won most of the races thus far, but the action is tremendous and you've got the added bonus of Suzi Perry strutting around in tight clothing. Can't be bad. Better than Brundle and his high waisted trousers anyway... Simon Quote
gee_fin Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 His trousers during the track-walk were obscene. I hope someone reported it to the television standards board. The Champ-Car over the weekend was fantastic, and that was just an oval. The footage from the cars was excellent, Dario even had a helmet cam :-o Lots of in-car shots. Makes you wonder why Bernie holds back so much on the in-car footage for terrestrial. Top viewing, the street courses are simply stunning (not that doing 240mph wheel-to-wheel on an oval isn't any less stunning of course). Course, the rally footage is just as excellent these days (Bravo Channel 4). Makes you wonder why people still watch F1...... Quote
Si Stocks Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Course, the rally footage is just as excellent these days (Bravo Channel 4). Makes you wonder why people still watch F1...... Forgot to mention the rallying...one car on "track" (most of the time) and still infinitely better viewing than F1. I've always thought it would be a very interesting exercise to take a WRC World Champ (McRae &/or Burns &/or Makkinen), F1 World Champ (Schumacher &/or Hakkinen), a NASCAR champ, a CART champ and a Touring Car Champ (Alain Menu &/or Yvan Muller) and put them head to head over a 5 part challenge in each of their respective vehicles. Not sure whether this would show up who was actually the best driver, but it would certainly be interesting! I know there is that Race of Champions thing, but not sure who enters that or what it comprises and I've never seen any coverage. Simon Quote
ricdiggle Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Didn't they once let a load of champs from other series loose in F1 cars? I seem to remember they all span at the first corner except the Superbike boys who did really well. I'm going back about 5 ot 10 years for this. Mind you, this could have been a dream as I used to eat a lot of cheese before going to bed in my younger days. Quote
