Well it seems Mr Stepps has finally succumbed to extreme old age and no longer has the strength to move his telescope by hand, so he decided he'd hook it up to his pacemaker. The gizmo he bought to interface his pacemaker didn't work, so he hooked his pacemaker battery directly to the 'scope and it worked fine. With some clever modification of an Apache pilots helmet, he now has a look/see telescope that works just by twitching his head (which he does a lot). Trouble is, the helmet is so heavy he can only look at Alpha Centauri for a few minutes before he needs a rest. Plus his pacemaker now needs a recharge every half hour instead of once a week, and he has a permanent neck ache. Still, he claims it's better than looking at it with his one good eye and moving it by hand, and who are we to argue? It's nice to see him having fun in the rest home, and of course the nurses will leave him alone most of the time as he isn't bothering them for bed baths nearly as much as he did before...

At least, that's how I read it...
