C'mon you show"ers" out there - Tis time to get up from your comfy chair and move your  :arse: 's  :D  :D      :D

There are loads of you out there that enjoy going to shows - all that is needed is a volunteer or two to pitch in co-ordinate things, attend a show or 12 and get the WSCC on the map at shows  :D  :D  :D  :)

It sure has been done with the Speed Series and shows is another important angle of the club.

With no-one coming forward - do we really want a club solely devoted to competition and trackdays  ???  ???  :(  :(  ???

Keep it simple

Why a trailer

£35.00 for a Gazeebo and some Westy club PVC banners

I would certaily be prepaired to help out with something at Harrogate - After all i had a good gripe about it this year. :p

There is also the question of insurance for the trailer etc and for the person towing it to the show.Boring I know but would it be classed as business use by the  insurancecompany?.

There's usually a show at Sandown sometime in August I think also one at Malvern (3 counties showground) but not sure when that one is. There's also one at the showground at Stone about April time I think as well.

Trust me - your erstwhile committee have a long list of problems (read... challenges) - that can be overcome  ;)  ;)  :D  :D We have deliberated at length  :D      :D (although it'll never be proven)  :p

We can see many of the aforementioned potential pitfalls - except for the one in trying to get someone, somewhere, somehow to put their heads above the "parapet" and volunteer to undertake a Show Co-ordinators role  :D  ;)  :D

I suggest we have an organiser in each region - say The North, The Midlands and The South.   We could keep the trailer centrally, and send it wherever it is needed.

Come on guys, it has to be worth it.   I enjoyed every minute of Donnington.

If i may chuck my ten penneth in i feel that the local area to that event whether it be show or speed series should take on the responsibility to providing organisation, support, help, marshals etc. I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is as i have in the past.

Below is a list of events i am prepared to offer my support and the support of Charlie and my Brother Graham (New Member) although they are unaware of it yet.

Harrogate Show

Yorkshire having a large turn out at most meetings should be able to make an example of what a local show should be all about. (Lots of Beer and stinking Hangovers)

Harewood Experience

(Lots of Beer and stinking Hangovers)

Scammonden

Gardening (Lots of Beer and stinking Hangovers)

What does tend to annoy is when you attend a function outside your area and there is a lack of local support.

Being a member surely means a certain level of commitment to your area.

If my views are misguided please let me know.

Best Regards

Simon Brumfield

See you all on the 15th

Perhaps more emphasis on Lots of beer and stinking hangovers  :D  :D  :D  :D          :D

I'm with you on that Simon, local assistance at local shows is the simplest way to go.

The amount of stuff required to put wscc on the map is minimal anyway, plus the less tentage etc needed, the easier it is to set up and clear away.

Each area has it's own signage already I understand, so why not just supplement the existing stuff with whatever the AO feels is neccessary for that particular region.   We can always loan a centrally held gazebo, signage etc if required can't we?

I will attend as many shows as possible and bring along merchandising if the AO requests it too.

The key, as always is getting people off their backsides to help out.

Lets keep this topic alive as 2004 will be upon us soon and I have visions of us getting to May and wondering what we have achieved.....

Wise words Neil, and in an ideal world I am sure it could work.

I think that Mark has been here before though, and as much as I want to find ways of making it work, experience may tell us that it won't. Also there are fewer major shows than there are area meets, so it will always keep falling on the few area organisers of those areas to keep propping the rest of the country up.

I am also sympathetic to the fact that well meaning and genuine volunteers do have to withdraw their support quite often purely as a symptom of the hectic lifestyle the UK seems to have taken on over the last couple of years.

One suggestion from a colleague in the Northants Area is that we find a friendly "honourary member" or "semi-professional" to take on the role without the distraction of wanting to drive their car to the show or event.

With a bit of organisation this "person" could not only organise the "car park" arrangements at the events and set up whatever it is we are going to invest in, but also liaise with organisers, advertise our attendance in the club mag and website, arrange directions, handle the merchandise needs for the show in support of you Neil, and possible even liaise with the factory where necessary. They could also perhaps sort out the show reports for the club mag.

Where do we find this person ? ...........lets worry about that when we know what we're doing.

So....what next?
