Martin Keene Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 the Autocar (or What Car) test commented along the lines of "the boot space is big enough to make people think twice about needing a 5 Series" Yeah, but both of those would have you buy a pile of dog turd providing it had a BMW badge on it. Autocar even admitted (sort of) it's BMW bias recently. They were tested hatch's and admitted that the new Gold GTi was faster, handled better, better value, nicer looking and just as well built as the 1 Series. But they then went on to say... "In this class image is evrything, so we'd still have the BMW" Quote
Bananaman Posted March 1, 2005 Author Posted March 1, 2005 OK the question I asked myself (& now ask you) was what smallish estate with RWD/4WD & strong TDi engine would be good fun & tow like a dream ???????? Quote
peterg Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 er BMW 330d much more fun than an A4 and tows like the trailer's not there Quote
baz Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Audi every time, anyway you won't shift any wardrobes in a 3 series Touring, though you might get a bedside cabinet in it. Quote
Gromit Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Another vote for the "Transit" i`m afraid. Preferably in white. Quote
I.S.M Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I personally wouldn't choose either. I don't like the look of the Merc. Too old school for me and the build quality ain't what it should be for that sort of money and I can confirm the probs with electrics as my brother has had both. As for the 3 series BMW Come on Andy you will loose what reputation/respect you have if you go with that thing its a s bad as buying a Subaru Impratza. Have you thought about a 5 series est.? Prices are excellent & without the 'chav' factor of a 3 series. Buy a transit van and 'bling it up' You'll have no problems with vandalism, it'll be cheaper insurance, better fuel economy, ideal for the business and a dam sight more street 'cred' than driving a 3 series. Buzz Pete, that whole post cracke me up! Get yorself a column in the Telegraph! Quote
