mark.anson Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 Brand Spanking new GMP Police HQ Can see why the money is needed, its to pay for the offices They need so they can process all the millions they are scamming out of us, and decide what to spend on more scameras, helicopters, patrol cars, vans . etc. etc. Cops arent interested in real crime policing anymore, it aint cost effective and anyway it doesn't bother those big fat cats which include the police cheifs on there big fat salary's There all tucked up nicely in there mansions surrounded by security cameras and barbed wire while they preach the gospel to all and sundry then go about braking there own law whenever they feel like it. Don't know about you but looks to me like we will all wake up one day soon and find were in a real police state ! DON'T PANIC ! BIG BROTHER IS COMING SOON its all a game really though isnt it ? Buzz, what a bummer mate. Really leaves a bad taste doesnt it. However Mr Pistonbroke you arent quite right in what you say; You will find that 99% of speed enforcement is now carried out by civilians. You will probably notice that the majority of those sneaky mobile vans have yellow lights on the top now and not blue. Sure the cops did it in the early days when these vans started to appear but they are now all civvys. The road safety partnerships as they call themselves, are part funded from the government the rest no doubt comes from the fines. Certainly in Lancashire, they have thier own buildings and offices and do not work out of police stations. Quote

Brand Spanking new GMP Police HQ Yep passed it yesterday on the way home from a thrashing from a well disciplined Wigan Athletic team!!. Ref the speeding, I could bang on about that they should be out catching crims etc but that's b*****k! Horses for courses I say, but it just about the lack of 'real speed' I wasn't doin' on a very quiet motorway. I know there will be people out there saying " well if you'd had a blow out and an accident then the cost of recovering, hospital etc" is again b*****k!! That's why I pay taxes etc. It's the 1st time in ages I'd driven at what I'd call a sensible speed on the motorway. Look how I get rewarded. I normally drive @ higher speeds. Plus round cities and towns I'm quiet slow and I do stick to 30mph and even lower round the back streets etc. I have had 8 speeding tickets in the last 25 years of driving and averaging 35k miles per annum. Sorry I'm off on 1 now ain't I?!?!? I'm gonna appeal against it for what its worth. I guess they must have picked on me cos' I was driving a German car! Anyway thanks for your moral support boys. I can't even drown my sorrows in alcohol as I'm on my usual after Christmas sabbatical.... ah well only 5 weeks to go Buzz Just a thought They've spelt my surname completely wrong can I throw that one in! We’ve got 47 points at the mo and it looks like where safe.... I hope !! I really don't want to go back into the Premiership we'd get stuffed every week. For those teams up the top of the championship(Wigan,Sundeland & Ipswich) will get the biggest surprise of their lives when they start in the Premiership next season. the void is vast as Norwich, WBA and Palace have found out this season and it will get wider. I can't see us back in the Prem for a long time Still its a good laugh visiting grounds I ain't been too for lots of years; like Rotherham.. Jeeeeesus its a scrap yard with a pub team playing in it... yep they beat us a s well! Still Leeds Rhino's won on Friday altho' Leeds Tykes got beat as well. smithydar Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 well if your loaded with money !!! and want to get one over on them you could allways get hold of the bloke the footie stars use .he seems to be know every loophole and some more. ive had many arguments with the plods after being stopped,but seems like it just makes things worse.the last time i was stopped.embarrasingly in an escort van.i just accepted it and got the points and fine.but did tell the copper after i was going to report him for riding his bike with his bmw helmet open (which is illegal) he just laughed and said have a good day. now that p++++d me off.one law for us and another for them but i was doing 50 in a 30.(but had to so the van would get up the other side.lol) like everyone else has said the speed camera guys are a buisiness of their own,and have figures to meet.the police are a bit more lenient and reallistic.except in built up areas. darren Quote

pistonbroke2 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Come of the M62 into Liverpool the speed limits for the last 3/4 mile is 60. then 40. The rest of the drive is mainly dual carraigway and a 30 limit. Nothing wrong with that but there has been 2 fatalalities in the 30 limit within a mile of each other and the traffic on the dual carriagway always drives at 40 plus. Judging from the Flowers where the fatalities occured I reckon they where both Kiddies. But where do the Plod put yer Gatso? Thats right ! in the 60 limit on the bleeding motorway. Quote

If it wrong against your licence just ignore it as it is clearly for some one else. Just keep a copy of the letter and plead ignorance if they come again.
