Testing a non road going car

Does any one know where I might be able to test my race car around the Milton Keynes area. I just need to run it up to speed in 4th gear (i.e. 100 ish MPH) and down again a few dozen times at full throttle. I don't want to book a whole test day at a circuit but also don't want to take it on the road in case I am nicked. Ideally a farm or air field or disused area where the old bill won't bother me. Only other idea is rolling road but not keen on this.

What about Millbrook Graham Millar? Do they let you do such things there.

Try giving John Walton (yes, thats his real name) at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire.  I haven't got the number but they may be obliging.

Hope this helps

You probably mean Hullavington. There's Kemble too I guess (once they shift the 747...).

Don't think Kemble has been running events this year (because of the 747 they're dismantling there).

As for age...I wouldn't worry, I doubt I'm far behind ;).

Don't try to sneak into Hullavington for a secret blat.  The base is still MoD property & patrolled by the MoD Plod (armed).

Reminds me years ago (1978 to be precise) when I 1st came to Bath, we used to sneak over to Castle Combe circuit & drive on in the evenings.  In those days there were very few meetings, the place hadn't been developed like now, and the gates were hardly ever locked.

I've done a track day at Wroughton airfield a couple of years ago.Being I live in Thatcham was a lot more convenient than going to Coombe and failing the noise test again and again......

Finmere has a strip about 1/2 mile long used by half a dozen light aircraft, Wing has one without the aircraft. Former runways/taxiways, both are in reasonable condition though have lots of 'marbles'.

Both are 'owned' by local farmer(s). I have landed at both within the last 3 years and could probably get contact numbers if you need them.

You can but it'll cost you £200 for 4hrs min track hire & you'll need to sort out your own insurance before they'll let you in.

Brafield oval track (where you used to do bangers) will let you test all day for about £25 but 100 mph would be a problem. What about Santa Pod during the week?

I think they had too many noise complaints (usual story). I know when I was there in my Escort I kept being told by the organiser to refrain fom squealing my tyres a lot.
