Nick M Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Another vote for the big bang or genesis If only to see if God really *did* get to rest on the seventh day, or if Mrs God found him a load of odd jobs to do around the place.... Quote
Blatman Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 Seconded.................... Unassuming youngsters into the unknown, teenager to old man in hours. Terrified to a man I`m sure......but what a buzz......must be the ultimate combat in what were then the ultimate machines. ( Bless `em all and thank God for them) If only some of our `visitors` now living in this country appreciated why this country is what it is today Agree with all of that Not sure I'd have wanted to actually be a pilot though. We've had it far too easy since those times. Any soldier who has *fought* properly in a war would make us look like a bunch of 3 year olds when it comes to a test of character. Heroes to a man. I just wouldn't have it in me to be that brave. Quote

Here's a question. If the universe is *everything*, and it's constantly expanding, what is it expanding in to? Quote
JAG Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 If the universe is *everything*, and it's constantly expanding, what is it expanding in to? God knows As to the Pilot/soldier - I think we all have it in us, whether we would be any good is a different matter. It just seems to me that the Battle of Britain was the time of greatest achievement in recent years and also gives me a chance to fly a single seater Spitfire. Something I doubt I will ever get to do for real. Quote

Blatman Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 But there isn't an everything else if the universe *is* everything else... My head hurts... Quote

Buzz Billsberry Posted September 15, 2004 Posted September 15, 2004 A solider of the 116th Infantry Division. K Company as they landed on Omaha beach at 07.30 on the 6th June 1944.I have been in some scary situations and many people including myself don't have any idea what those guys went thro' Nothing could compare with what the Yanks faced on that beach. When I see any footage. I always wonder what I would have felt? at 19 years old & nothing but a boy as many of the 'grunts' were on that day. The smells, the noise, the fear of death and your mind playing tricks, wondering if you'd make off the landing craft never mind make it onto the beach. Where would you run for cover? how many friends would you lose? absolute incomprehensible fear... those people and the rest of the fighting forces that took part on that day were proper men.
