If you are buying new wheels and rubber, then seriously look into 13" wheels. The savings you'll make on your 2nd set of tyres almost pays for the alloys themselves, never mind the reduction in weight and supposed (do a search) better handling.

Greg

Greg,

Thanks, but I have to say on costs I would disagree, Toyo Proxes are £30.90 from mytypres.co.uk and that includes VAT & p&p, I doubt you'll get a performance tyre cheaper than that for 13's.  :D  :D

Oh no, what have I started

:)

A Toyo proxy on a 7 is not a performace tyre though. Way to hard for a circa 500Kg vehicle.

An A032R or a ACB10 will be many seconds a lap quicker on most tracks. These are far cheaper in 13" !!!

Problem comes buying decent 13" rims these tend to be harder to find than bigger ones. Really nice light 13" rims tend to be very expensive. In fact I can only think of 4 makes of decent light 13" rims !!!

Toyo's seem to be perfect for my requirments, road use (including wet driving) with the odd track day. Never has any problems with them. I would still consider them performance tyres, maybe not to the same level as Yoko's but compared to rest of the bunch out there. They are a fine balance between grip and wear, I've heard that even with normal road driving you'll be lucky to get 1500 miles on a set of Yoko's.

Totaly agree they are one of the best of the non specialist tyres and adequate for the road and odd track day.

I had a set of 205 60R 13 soft (not super soft) A032R's last over 10 track day's on my Busa.

Waits for jibes about driving like a girl   :p

Funny you should says this "If you go with the black ones (which im sure you will)...........make sure you fit more wheel nuts !!!!!!!!!!!! "

I only have three studs on front n/s front hub. Is that dodgy or is three enough. Haven't got round to welding a forth one in. The hole in the hub has rounded so I can't fit a stud normally.
