Is the Dick Mayo Sprint at Castle Combe on Saturday 26th July 2025 still a round of the Speed Series?

As Bristol Motor Club who are running the event do not show the Speed Series in the list of championship rounds for the event.

Thanks for the confirmation John it's great that you are back at Castle Combe, I hope to come and spectate as it's my local circuit.

Hopefully the AO's for the local areas ( @Paul Baker , @Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset, @Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO and @Martin Letts - Joint Hampshire & IOW AO + @Steve Smith - Joint Hampshire & IOW AO ) are aware of this round and we get a good turnout.

Hoping to be there if I can get the car together. I need to put the rebuilt gearbox and engine back in place and make it all work which shouldn't be a problem....

I did about 15 miles in the Westfield this morning so look forward to meeting you all at Castle Combe.

 

The gearbox problem was a broken main shaft. Apparently it's relatively common as there is a thrust washer which sits in the groove and the drillings create a stress point.

 

Huge thanks to Paul at First Motion Transmissons https://www.firstmotion.co.uk/. I took the  box out of the car on the Sunday, took it to him Monday lunchtime and he had fixed it by Thursday evening.

You are joking!! Its 140 miles from home to Castle Combe.

 

The car is stripped out with no windscreen and is uncomfortable to drive on the road. It may be very fast but there is little opportunity to use the speed. It is certainly not a motorway cruiser.

I'll arrive Friday evening, sleep in the trailer and drive back home Saturday after the event.

A reasonable day out but a pity we didn't get an extra run as there seemed to be time for one, but no communications from the organisers.

It was great to meet you you as well Richard and we had a great day spectating. 

The other Sprint that I mentioned at Castle Combe is The Great Western Sprint on Saturday 18th October which has the final round of the UK Sprint Championship.
