Having taken advice from @si_salisbury the start point has been altered to a more suitable location - The Crown, Main Street, Great Casterton PE9 4AP

After lunch, drive the long way round (about 1hr) to Hambleton Bakery Café, Exton LE15 8AN for cake and coffee before heading back to Great Casterton.
@si_salisbury is joining me. Anyone else up for some fun in the forecast sunshine??

@garykingsnorth you are welcome to be my co-pilot if you would like as I have a spare seat.

Thank you @AndrewBClarke for the drive out, also for allowing me to be a passenger due to my battery deciding to give up and not take a charge🤦‍♂️

Due to the sound track of Andrew’s Westfield I did forget to take photos apart from this one.

After a drive around, we made a planned stop at the Hambleton bakery for a nice coffee and cake, but unlike @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative  I forgot to take a photo of them before we tucked into them.

Fantastic day out in really good weather and beautiful scenery.
I travelled down south to The Crown at Great Casterton where @si_salisburyhad already arrived on foot. Unfortunately his Westfield had developed a fault with its battery/charging so he was co-piloting for the day in my spare seat.
After a hearty lunch, we set off on a figure of 8 trip which circumnavigated Rutland Water and ended up at the Hambleton Bakery for coffee and the obligatory cake.
It was good to see Tim Baxter who joined us there from the Norfolk group in his red Westfield.
After topping up with the delicious cakes, we went on our way. I dropped @si_salisbury off back in Great Casterton and travelled back via Stamford and Bourne home.
Thanks @si_salisbury for coming. Was great to see you again. It would also have been lonely without you!!

I must admit to being disappointed with the turn out - great location, an organised route, good food and a sunny weather forecast clearly isn’t enough to entice others out. ☹️

Looks like you had a good day out.

I perhaps have too many hobbies and had already made commitments for Saturday.

I usually never turn cake down.

I would of come but the car was down and i was on call at work. I am sorry for your low turn out Andrew but maybe a bit more notice is required for some members. I do try to do as much as i can .

I appreciate your car issues and your intention to come.
I can only post details once the weather report is published as most owners seem to be fair weather drivers only and also when my workload is under control.
The frustration I vented (and probably should not have done) was because it takes a fair amount of effort to organise things like a interesting route, a suitable start point, meal stops, cake stops etc.

I was also frustrated as I decided a starting point to suit others rather than myself but still had a poor turn out. My drive to the start was over 1hr15 and if it wasn’t for Simon, I would have been doing it all by myself. Overall my drive was over 3hr30.
On the positive side, it was good to catch up with Simon, the weather was brilliant and my route was interesting.

I have been told about a nice dairy farm/ice cream place just south of Melton Mowbray (LE14 2XJ) we could try and do a drive from Sleaford area to there?

That way some people will have a short drive in the morning and a longer drive home and like wise some have a long drive in the morning and a shorter one in the afternoon.

would this be of any interest to any one?

Ps the dairy farm has a crazy golf course, so could have a round of golf after ice creams.

@AndrewBClarke perhaps the turnout wasn't as you'd hoped as it coincided with the TLWN. I would have joined you if the dates didn't clash
