That's a shame, but hopefully we'll be able to scrape together at least one XI ( @DIY-Si 😀)?

I shall indeed be there, and flying the flag for the XI gang. I've no idea if it'll be just me, but I hope at least one other can make it.

Can we just turn up anytime or is there some kind of schedule? I'm assuming as it's an 'open day' we can arrange when it suits us? Also do we need to prove we've had an invitation?

8am to 4pm is the official time, a few have mentioned arrival time mid morning due to distance/travel time

you should have had an email confirmation with a pdf event ticket with your name on? that's what I received

I didn't get the pdf tickets. Think I must be one of the ones affected by the email glitch they had,  but I do have an email saying I am 1 of the 100 who can attend. No idea if we can bring passengers?

Despite the very cool and cloudy conditions, I’m pleased to say there was an excellent turnout today!

From my own perspective, it was an excellent event and well worth it.  Not to put too fine a point on it, it was clear they are not playing about here.  Considerable money is being spent and great care taken to bring the product up to a much higher level.  It will take time, but I have no doubt they will succeed.  We are not talking about just reproducing what went before - this is a serious overhaul and redesign in due course.

Interesting note: The engines for the NT are not being bought in - they are going to produce their own engines.  No further details, but that should give you an idea how serious they are.

Thanks to everyone at Westfield Chesil for a great day! 👍

Oh - and Chesil bodies in maroon look gorgeous, really suits the shape.

Ditto to what @Scott Young (Captain Colonial) - Club Secretary said.

I’ll be writing to the Westfield Chesil team directly to thank them but what a great event and thank you for organising. It was refreshing to hear about the changes they’ve made already at all levels to improve the brand and buying experience as well as making positive moves to address many of the issues we’ve all had in the past either with the build manuals, parts quality, supply issues etc.

it very much seems to be a case of learning heavily from the past mistakes and starting afresh with a clear vision and plan to make the whole buying process better and the the quality of the kits as good as they should be.

I agree with @Scott Young (Captain Colonial) - Club Secretaryand @Mark (smokey mow) - an excellent event.  One indicator of learning being implemented was the brand new FW bonnet moulding that incorporated the headlamp spats - fixing one of the most annoying/ painful parts of the build (IMHO of course!) - see pictures:

I saw that but assumed it was because the bodywork was Sport Turbo rather than FW.

Don't get excited guys, that's Euro Sport Turbo 3 bodywork, it's been out for over ten years now. It's just the old ST4 development car, hence the AiM dash and can bus switches, that's been repurposed as an EV development mule.

ST3 bodywork has never been available  for kits, indeed I was told months ago, that the moulds for the ST bodywork had been lost, though not sure if it's still the case.

I once asked Simon if it was possible to buy ST bodywork for kit build use and got a categoric no.

shame as it does have a better engineered boot lid !

It certainly does. Also has a quite different chassis to the regular car. Even the weather gear is bespoke to the ST3.

It’s where the taller windscreen and side screens “came from” they were taller for part of the Euro homolgation, if I recall.

Sadly, when Westfield adopted the side screens and windscreen for regular car use, they simplified and got rid of all the extra, clever weather sealing the original ST3 side screens had built in.

Even the fuel filler position was different on that tub, though obviously, you could see where it had been roughly filled in with glass fibre and back filled with gel coat.

My mistake - I heard a conversation about new body moulds and must have put 2+2 together to make 5! Having said that, it would be good thing to do!
