DIY-Si Posted April 1 Share Posted April 1 It's not lego, but it did take me a decent amount of time. This little fella leads my army of toy soldiers, and for scale stands on a 50mm diameter base. All hand/brush painted, including the freehanded letters and number on the shoulder pad and banner. It's the most detailed thing I've ever painted, and I reckon there's maybe 30 hours in the painting. I really need a better way of photographing my models. What you need to sort is a different background, something that doesn't distract from the model. Your current background is way too 'busy'. And then lighting is key. The busy background is mainly because I hadn't intended to share the photos much, so they were mainly for my own reflections on the techniques and so on. I started playing when Rogue Trader came out in 1987, waiting every month for the White Dwarf magazine to drop through the letterbox with new updates 😂 My late 80's Eldar, Harlequin and very rare Stumpy armies are still boxed up in the loft. It's always been Space Marines for me, but going to the village newsagents for my White Dwarf was always a good day! The scale and level of detail in the models now is worlds apart from the old school white metal models. Even though the model I posted is a kit bash of mine, there are plenty of others off the shelf models that are bigger, more detailed and more of a pain to build.
