MR.C Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Looks like after many years trying Ducati are going to win both World Superbikes and MotoGP in 22. 1198 has always been and still is on my bucket list. Quote

With 8 bikes in this years MotoGP you’d like to think they have it sewn up. But they do have a habit of clutching defeat from jaws of victory! Quote

Blatman Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 I think the Firestorm was hugely under-rated. Never got round to owning one... yet... Had a CX500 and a CX650 Eurosport back in the day. Also had use of an early VT500, which were awful. All shafty's of course, 'cos I was a despatch rider back then Quote
BigSkyBrad Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Another V-twin I had, my second bike (on my 28th now, and everyone of them modded), back in '91... Started out like this... ...ended up like this..! (TZR race seat unit, cut-down GSXR fairing and '70s Toyota Corona headlights) Quote
BigSkyBrad Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Does someone want to kick off a 'bikes I've owned' thread? I'm sure there's quite a few ex-bikers who've gravitated to Westies. 1 Quote

Agree Mine had an ex BSB Spondon modified frame and Sw-arm, Ohlins forks, Harris yokes, Penske shock, Brembo brakes and Oz wheels- powered by a Moriwaki tuned engine with race carbs. Used to surprise a few Aprillias and Dukes 😁 1 Quote

Something about not enough suspension travel or something... 2 hours ago, BigSkyBrad said: Does someone want to kick off a 'bikes I've owned' thread? I'm sure there's quite a few ex-bikers who've gravitated to Westies. Nothing "ex" about it. I still ride most days. Current 2 wheeled transport is an aging BMW K1200GT. The only way I can surprise Ducati's is when they hit traffic and ride "cautiously", so they get smoked... 😄 The VT250 was a great looking bike too. I wanted one of those back in the day Quote

It was common amongst the fraternity to get your forks “Rogered” 😁 1 Quote
Blatman Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Oh I've rogered a couple of sets of forks in my time... 1 1 Quote
MR.C Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 As I recall the firestorms achilles' heel was the poor tank range. Quote

The RLOD as we called it (red light of doom) meant you had about 5 miles to find a station with about 100 miles range on a good day. I did end up fitting the later model tank that gave you a useable 120 mile range - so no wonder I feel at home in the Westy. 🤣 Quote
