Team V are going to the relaunched Newark Kitcar Festival at the end of July.

We thoroughly enjoyed Stoneleigh and are looking forward to it very much.

Again, some queries from us Newbs:

1. Which day is best? Is it the Sunday like Stoneleigh?

2. Will WSCC have a similar set up to Stoneleigh?

3. Is there a convoy planned?

4. Is anyone else going……

Just hoping I don’t “bump into” any muscle cars on the way….

Look forward to hearing

Cheers, D

Hi

the Newark show is a new one from what I understand, it was stopped a few years ago and this the first.
I could be wrong in advising you but feel free to correct me if anyone knows anything different, I don’t think it will have the same setup as stoneleigh, but based on a post on here there is some interest from other members, so it might be a few little convoys. I’m planning to go but based on the weather or the day the the most people attend from the club.

Not sure if there is any plans for a stand to park at or it’s a case of park up were ever you can.

@si_salisbury - Thanks, that’s helpful. I understand it was last held in 2013? It’s run by the same company that runs Stoneleigh and they say it will be the same kind of set up, but we’ll see. We’ll probably be weather dependent too. A fiver (going in my Westy with my 15 year old) is not too much to risk! Cheers, D

I’d just like to point out that Newark is an anagram - thank you.

I asked them for an area (for us to park), quite a while ago, and have had no response other than we’ll get back to you.

Will chase them again and see if anything was ever done.

The old Newark show was always a bit of a mixed bag from memory. It was a reasonably good place to see a small number of cars from a variety of kit manufacturers and owners clubs and the club areas were well laid out, so you could easily compare different makes and models as it was a small show. That said, it always felt like a poor relation to Stoneleigh (although the latter was probably at its height/just on the wane at the point I am thinking about- late 90s), but it had a certain attraction as it used to have a reasonably good auto-jumble and some good stands. I suppose it depends which manufacturers are going and what other trade stands they have managed to pull in as to how good it may be in the new format....

It's fairly local to me so I might pop along and have a look anyway if the weather is nice.

Thanks for the background - was it always run by Grosvenor - or is that a new thing for this year? D

Grosvenor are new to Newark  this year. It will be interesting as things like the commercial plots are considerably cheaper than Stoneleigh.

@AndrewBClarke - that’s interesting, hopefully Grosvenor will bring some oomph to the event. 👍
