Popular Post TAFKARM
If any one cares, this year Rush Motorsport is taking the step from "averagely skilled, wannabe track day hero" to "distinctly below average, hopefully don't come last circuit racer". Lets be honest, its a mid life crisis. Its something I've always wanted to do and now I've got to 40 and finally have a child, I felt like I was running out of time. The stars have aligned, I'm in the fortunate position to be able to afford it and the wife is being surprisingly supportive, without which it would be impossible. So what does this year look like? A few arrive and drives in BRSCC MX5 Clubman Championship: Silverstone Grand Prix - 21st May Oulton Park - 23rd July I'm going to try to get a drive at Donington in September, before buying my own car and doing the full championship next year. Its 16 rounds over 8 days, each event it 15 min quali, then 2 x 15 min races. What is nice about the Clubman series is it all happens on one day - which is great if you are time constrained like me (Those heady days of sunny afternoons spent in the garage with @Simon Waterfall Syman84 tinkering with our oily bits are long gone). So yeah, that's that. I'm testing the car at Silverstone on 20th because i've not driven the GP track before, don't plan to test before Oulton or Donny - its gets really expensive really quickly. I'm being realistic with my expectations, the racing is close and the fast guys are A LOT faster than I am. Grids are 30+ cars, there are 35 already for Silverstone and people are still booking. A top 20 finish for me would feel like a world championship win, so my goal for the first one is, stay out of trouble and end both races in a higher position than I started. The point of the thread is that if anyone has any questions or is considering it, ask away and I'll be as honest and open as I can. The raw footage will be on my youtube channel, I might do a vlog if I can be bothered and you can watch the races live on BRSCC youtube channel.

I'm sure I'll put a few words on the forum. Channel is here . Less than a week to go - how am I feeling? Completely unprepared and I've not really had chance to give it enough thought to be nervous. I've got a heck of a week; Tuesday - Portsmouth - (4hrs from here) Wednesday - Luton --> Amsterdam early doors Thursday - Amsterdam --> Luton late doors Stay in MK then straight off for testing on Friday morning, which is lucky as I still don't know which way the track goes and havent watched any youtube tutorials. | Quali & Race on Saturday, watch the C1 24hr for a bit then home Sunday and family holiday on Monday... Got the car packed up today which made it all seem a bit more real. I had a chat with the grandiosely titled Team Principle (haha!) on Thursday night which has helped too now I know a little more about how the actual process works. 1
