Richard (OldStager) Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 i think we have all done this on the road in one type of car or another, i know i have. the owner of this westy was perhaps unfortunate to have had a dashcam film it and then it posted to the world. my spin was in a triumph vitesse comp car that was road legal, i was testing the car on some rather nice lanes on the wirral and was a section of road i knew well, unknown to me was some bus, truck or car had dumped a load of diesel on a rather tasty 90 degree corner that normally could be taken at 60 ish, seems the diesel also liked the corner and around i went. no damage or other cars around me, but did shock me at how fast i lost control. i have had a few half spins in the westy, but as it's a light car i was able to catch it before it went too far. i think in this age of dashcams and mobile phones, getting away with a whoopsie is slightly harder than it once was. Benrobson2999 - Kent AO Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Ok I will own up, ( this one wasn’t me) but I did exactly that a few days ago too being heavy footed on a damp roundabout. Luckily No harm done and a valuable lesson learned! https://www.instagram.com/tv/CYJizxyqr1s/?utm_medium=copy_link 3 Quote

Sounded like a lot of squealing for a damp road 🤔 Please don't say Toyo T1R 😳 Quote

Craigib76 Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Yeah done similar in an sw20 mr2 ( the spinning like a ballerina) not the cutting lanes lol ended up facing the wrong way on the roundabout covering the on ramp for the M9 motorway with a few folks sitting giving me the evils…….mr2 owners call this their “special moment” I can only guess at why as it wasn’t very special for me… was a major code brown lol 💩 1 1 Quote
Jim RS Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Great pirouette! My first venture into this art was in a lowly A30 when I was 17, turned from the main road into a T junction and ending up going back the way I had come. My mate who was following laughed so much because he said my car was hopping round with the rear axle looking like it was going to part company🤣 2 Quote
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 The first time it happened to me was when I learned the pitfalls of lift off oversteer in my mother's chocolate brown Vauxhall Nova saloon (I know, very stylish!) as an 18yr old.... pedalling the mighty 1.0 litre pushrod powerhouse faster than it had any reason to go down a wet B5000 in Tamworth, I found myself quickly reversing down the wrong exit off a roundabout with brown trousers. The bus driver I'd just overtaken shook his head and gave a very good imitation of the late Gareth Hunt shaking coffee beans in his Nescafe advert as he serenely drove passed 😂 1 Quote
Nemesis Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 First time out on a track (Blyton) I did just the same thing....... ruined some perfectly good underwear too...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlXKZBTFy4M&t=54s Quote

Fast road type driving Michelin Pilots or Uniroyal Rainsports if you want to use the car all year around. If you want to do trackdays and mainly summer driving any of the road legal semi slicks that are available,Nankang Ar1 or NS2-R if you don't want the expense of Toyos👍 1 Quote

Envious, you had 200cc over mine so at least 25% more power if it was running more than 3 cylinders😵 1 Quote
MR.C Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Hang on a minute Kev, Uniroyal Rainsport is a budget tyre made by i believe the mx5 Gods. Which is a heavy car, not sure where your logic lies mate! Quote

MR.C Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Reason we end up with budget tyres, is all the mainstream manufactures follow the trend in wheel sizes. To sell to the masses, and leave the old sizes to the small manufactures. Toyo, Uniroyal. Didn't Uniroyal make tyres for the allegro? Quote
