Andy_R Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 I won't be able to attend as an important event on TV at 1pm is forcing me to stay at home with a couple of beers 🏎️ Good news is the move isn't happening until early Jan so will be able to make it out on the next one. 1 Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted December 11, 2021 Author Posted December 11, 2021 Thanks everyone for letting me know if you are coming or not, I wondered if there was much interest for this rather strange event and your comments encourage me 👍 It is a little unfortunate that such an exciting F1 is on at the same time, but life is for the living and telly will get watched later, avidly. Ooo, here's to a great Santa Run with lots of daft laughs and let's hope all the kids enjoy it as much as we do🤩 7 1 Quote
Si.Dalziel Posted December 12, 2021 Posted December 12, 2021 Well it started wet and ended wet but the sun came out for a cracking run. Many thanks to @Julie Hall - Joint Peak District AOThe looks on everyone’s faces as we paraded through the peaks was well worth it. Both my kids had a great day out too. My camera has a leaky lens cover so most of the footage is no good but I did manage to catch the Peaky Polar Express as it set off. 7 Quote
Popular Post Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted December 12, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted December 12, 2021 Left a sunny Chesterfield, drove through wet fog but the inbetweeny bit was good, thank fully. We met at Ashbourne. Trevor fed us with his luscious homemade doughnuts, thanks Trevor, they were yummy. Unfortunately the cafe was temporarily closed at the Marks and Spencer Foodhall, luckily the toilets remained open. We set off but we were now early for the first time ever and in need of a brew. I knew that my local Lido were having a coffee and cake event so we popped in there, much to their delight. Swimming pool this way The life guards had as many clothes on as a Westfield driver, it is all outdoors, but we were warmed up with hot chocolate and cakes. All the cakes were homemade by the swimmers As nobody was keen on having a dip we decided to carry on with our journey. The pool is open to non-members too for £10 a swim, over 18's only, no chlorine or heaters, it is spring water warmed by the rocks 3000ft below. We had a drive through Matlock Bath, Chatsworth, Eyam and Bakewell giving a cheery wave to passers by. Our destination was Peak Rail where the train was just pulling out, as shown on Si's video, that meant we could get some lunch in peace and I could ask Hedley for a photo of his pants! HANDS OFF MY PUD great sense of humour Hedley, love it! We had chance to do a bit of panorama dancing while we waited for the train to arrive There are more Santa's here than there should be Soon the crowds arrived and the goodies were given out. Hedley gave selection boxes away, very generous and so lovely to see. Bagpuss could not behave himself and went to find a warm place to have a catnap Where do you think the cats gone Dave? The train went on it's merry way and it was time for us to go too Thanks to everyone who came, when you built/bought your cars you didn't bank on this kind of behaviour did you? I think it is safe to say that we all enjoyed it and everyone that saw us and waved back at us did too. Really it is all for the children and I can't go without saying that Si has a great wife and two wonderful children, thank you Kath for supporting us and bringing them along I hope you all enjoyed it. Maisie Jack Thank you everyone xxxxxxxx 12 3 Quote

What can I say, I'm a busy man. 1 Quote
