jaykay42
Hello everyone! I'm currently running an MGB GT as my daily - purely to have fun when driving. Over the 5-6 years of my ownership I have heavily modified the vehicle, partly my own spannering (for instance the interior and suspension work) as well as by my trusted specialist (like the Stage 2 tune). Now that I won't need more than 2 seats any longer, I can finally pursue my chase for more involvement and performance properly - with a Westfield! However, my last remaining hurdle, after having convinced my wife that it's a necessary move, is that I'm really rather tall. Plus I have ridiculously long legs for my height. A few years ago I got very close to buying an Elise, but I simply do not fit in - my knee doesn't allow me to engage 5th gear. So, after a long introduction: Is there an owner of a wide body local to (North) Devon who would kindly allow me to simply sit in their stationary car to see if I actually fit in? Thank you for reading this far + thank you in advance! Jens
Quinten
How long? I'm 6'5 with supermodel long legs and there are a lot of things you can do to make it work if you want...

jaykay42
Hi Quinten! Yes, I think about your size. Inside leg in trousers is definitely more than a 36inch, but 38 is usually a bit generous... Hi Rush! Yes, good idea, but I was looking for something faster 😉
Quinten
Welcome to the "import your jeans from The Netherlands" club Anyway, some tips. If you can find a widebody with lowered floors, then that's the best option. If you can't, try to find one with a top mounted pedal box as it allows you to stretch your clutch leg underneath the pedal. Then invest in some floor mounted shell seats and bring the steering wheel a little closer to your body. I would happily show you around, but I'm in North Ampton, not Devon
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary
Hi, I'm 6ft 5 and on my second wide body Westfield. My first with standard floors and without a quick release wheel was tight for knee room but just about driveable. The addition of a quick release brought the wheel closer freeing a bit of knee room. My latest car has lowered floors which makes a huge difference. I've got an aero screen too, as when I had a windscreen I felt I was always trying to see under the screen frame.
jaykay42
Thank you all for the info so far - very encouraging to hear! Just to add: my father-in-law has a regular body Caterham (am I allowed to mention these on here?) and I don't fit into that one. But hunting down a widebody with lowered floors and top mounted pedalbox is the mission now... Plus if there's anyone with a Westie in Devon/Cornwall/Somerset - let's hear from you, please!
Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO
Welcome. I’m on the Somerset levels near Bridgwater, my car’s got lowered floors (wide body) plus removable steering wheel. Bear in my 250 has a taller (2”) windscreen. You would be welcome to try my car to see if you fit. Let me know if that would help, and we can arrange to meet. Exmoor has some great Westie roads as I’m sure you know!

But if there's the equivalent for shoes in NL, I may well be interested: size 14 is not something I pick off the shelf... 🙂
TAFKARM
The clown feet might be more of an issue… the footwell isn’t big, so add “type 9” chassis to your list - the gearbox tunnel is narrower for a type 9 than for a MT75 so you get more foot space

Even the Saxo my wife had many years ago was so tight I physically could not operate break and clutch at the same time. However, my application for the circus was successful. 😉
