Bazzer Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 Surely 7 type cars are all about the corners rather than big bruiser power. I had a 5L TVR Chim before my Westie and that was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the big V8, tremendous power and great noise. It had quite a lot of grip but never had the finesse of the MegaBusa and for me this is what these cars are about. I also reckon a TVR makes a far better road car than a 7 of any type as does an Elise and pretty much any other roadster type car (gets coat) :-) Bazzer Quote

Crash Override Posted June 2, 2004 Posted June 2, 2004 Torque is king....................makes the power more useable.... I agree with this, just look at my signature. How about twin bike engines either in two or four wheel drive configuration, its been done in both counts just can't remember in what, anyone know? Quote

Keep us posted! Easy, easy... Things are speeding up a little on my build so hopefully I will finish this year! By far the biggest part of the build has been soring out the engine. It's new territory to me so I've been treading carefully, things have moved on a bit from this Engine Builbup pt 1 as I've now got the heads, put the cam in, set the cam timing (vernie gears), checked my clearances etc. Next stage is that I need my pistons pocketing a little mainly because the V8 Developments cam is set to 108 degrees rather than the std 112. Which means more lift earlier in the inlet stroke while the piston is near the top. I'll try to update my website soon. Mike Quote

If I remember correctly it was a Tiger Cat or Six or whatever built by Z Cars in yellow with blue powder coated chassis Mike Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Agreed Bazzer I love my V8 but its no match for a light 4 pot thro' the corners especially as mine weighs in at 750Kg!! It’s a proper super tanker, but I bought it as a proper GT car, however, you'll only have to look at Mr Minshall's V8 that won the Group B WSCC Speed Series 2003 with 610kg and 260 bhp. He munched quiet a few of the four pots with big horse power! Plus you need the ability to drive. I could not believe what a driving difference between my 2.0ltr 16ver and the V8 mind blowing Still V8 power, the symphony of noise and 30mpg, I likes me V8 Buzz Quote
Bazzer Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Agreed they sound great, I do agree it is a gem of an engine. I had a 5L TVR and I loved it. I guess because I am not under the 7 spell I don't realy understand. I have a 7 because it is a good tool for the job I want it to do at a reasonable cost. I guess if you want a 7 type car and like big lazy engines then it's the way to go. But I guess you have to have that 7 desire. As there are other V8 powered cars that are easier to live with but I guess for some people they are just not a 7 !!!! Bazzer PS I nearly built a SEIGHT with the remains of my TVR after I totaled it at Castle Coombe. But I decided that a Busa car would suit what I wanted it for better TRACK TIME Quote

Including this one: Which is for sale, did I mention that?? Quote
tr mike Posted June 5, 2004 Posted June 5, 2004 If there's room for a rover v8 then there's a very good chance an ls1 will fit as well:) It will fit the Seight, so I'm assured. There are also some very neat stainless exhaust manifolds for these engines which are very flat against the block. Height is less then the rover and length can be shorter. Capacity on the other hand is much greater! Early on, you have to make the choice to go with the GM ecu or an aftermarket system like DTA or MBE etc. Quote
