Forum software updated? Info please

@Quinten Uijldert - Webmaster I take it there’s been a forum software update lately as there’s a few changes I’ve noticed:

 

 

1) Profile details are gone - mine now longer says “MemSec 2012-15...” etc. under my User Name.  Not that I’m bothered, but some might be.

 

2) What’s with the shields?

 

3) Number of posts now rounded down rather than the exact amount - why?  Also the “bullet holes” under the number of posts is gone.  Again, small detail but members like @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary and @Blatman had profiles that looked like a drive-by shooting.

 

4) The update changed my User Groups from Life Member as the primary and Admin as secondary to the other way around - can you flip these back to how they were before the update please (as an Admin I can’t change my own User Groups).

 

5) Anything else we should be aware of? Thanks

Yes, I saw the forum go off-line this morning, and there's been a major update alert banner at the top for a while.

 

That lower badge on the left gives the old rank when you hover over it. Still looking for other changes though.

Yep, we can add our own, and manually add them for, ahem, special cases…

Not sure why this is, but the forum loads far faster for me now than it once did. I can even bring up the main icons box without having to wait 3 minutes.

 

Not entirely sure about the badge look, but I will get used to it.

 

Thanks to staff for keeping the forum fresh and more importantly operational.

Some things are designed to be a bit fun/daft, and a bit of a laugh to play around with, like badges. But, they also serve an important purpose as they encourage all sorts of forum useage, from simple posting, to pushing members towards actively encouraging others to post, too.

I think you'll find the things I post actively encourage others to post, too.  The things they post in reply aren't always kind or flattering, but at least they're posting. 😇
