chrisbin Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 South Wales: Maybe an inch on the hills......that's all..... They're still threatening that its on the way though...... Quote
studbuckle Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Oh it's on its way... very impressive weather front too. couild see it coming for about 5 mins and as it hit the building the wind howled and the snow blizzarded. It's still at it but my webcams suggest it'll be over in about 20 minutes Quote
jdinhants Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Snow?? Not seen any since 1984, I think. So long ago not sure if it wasn't just a frost! Will watch the news to see what it looks like. Especially in the Republic of Yorkshire Wall to wall sunshine here on the south coast, nearly wore the shorts when I took the Westie out this morning. Be careful out there. J D Quote
AndrewKernick Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Four/Five Inches of snow in Lincolnshire. Took me two and a half hours to drive 24 miles to work this morning. Why can't people drive in snow in this country? 10mph and grind to a halt anywhere near any other traffic! Don't blame the gritters, blame the idiots who can't drive. Quote
DickieB Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Clucking Bell There's white stuff falling out of the Wiltshire sky where the sun should be. I'm off to the shops to stock up quick. (Beer of course). Phew, 20 mins later, fridge restocked with beer. Panic over. Quote
david.c Posted January 28, 2004 Author Posted January 28, 2004 Just had a real good blizzard here........about 2" in 30 mins, but it's calming down now. I live on a pretty steep hill and most people seem to be leaving their cars at the bottom of it. Now where's that sledge? David Quote
Blatman Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Yup, just had something similar. Apparently, large chunks of the Bucks/Berks M25 is impassable 'cos people can't drive......... Much the same story will no doubt be true of most of the commuter routes. Me, I'm here 'til 21.00. That should give 'em enough time to get out of my way...... Quote

Blatman Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Any idea if the m3, m25 and m11 are going to be ok, i've got to get home tommorow If it snows overnight and the gritters don't get out, you may have trouble. Otherwise, I reckon you'll be OK. Keep a watch on the sky, and the ambient temperatures though...... FWIW, it stopped snowing about 90 mins ago here (West London), and the main routes, and anywhere else that's been well gritted seem to be OK, just a bit slushy/wet......HOWEVER, if all that slush freezes overnight, then there'll be real bother tomorrow....... Quote
taffy Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 if all that slush freezes overnight, then there'll be real bother tomorrow....... Thats what happend here in Lichfield at about 4 pm. bl**** slippery. SWMBO got frozen out of her Mini, went to rescue her to discover she had got in and b*******d off. Had to retrace my tracks through the worlds supply of Muppets at about 5mph. Got home and she asked "Why was I late home" Aghhhhh Rob Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 There am I driving along the hilly country roads in my 4x4, easily going through the 12" + drifts when what do I find, but a "muppet" in a BMW, now rear wheel drive and snowy hills don't go learn't that one a long time ago. Some other guys had been trying to help him and had just given up when I got there and it was obvious he was a cause what did he do, stood there looking at them So of course I did the gentlemanly thing and ------ as I drove past the Quote
