We have had a slight design change recently but the pillars were current up until late 2019. These I believe were introduced int he mid nineties. 1996/1997 roughly.

Will they fit an SE ?

Thanks

Hi if he has kit bodywork the older pillars fit the scuttle profile, these are for ZK and the FW scuttle I believe

I believe the older pillars had the mirror mountings lower down and took the mk2 escort/mk1 fiesta mirrors. At least, that's what mine are on a 1996 Seiw, kit bodywork.

Those are different older pillars, though they were only made AFAIK in the Kit Bodywork era.

There were two, and with the latest development that @Westfield Parts Dept Mentioned, now three versions of the Rover 100/Metro mirror screen uprights.

There was an early version for the kit bodywork, which is shaped to fit the more tapering (towards the top) shape of the Kit bodywork scuttle, then that was replaced by a version that was re-shaped to fit the squarer profile of the ZK scuttle. This has now been replaced, 2019/20 ish, ( @Westfield Parts Dept - is there a definitive date for the change to new style?) with a version that no longer has the hinge blocks cast into the upright? (Is that right, anymore changes to the design in the update?)

Without knowing the age of the uprights in question, it's quite tricky to say with certainty which they are. I've heard of people making different versions fit the "incorrect" scuttle, but can't tell you which way round that's been, I suspect it's kit uprights to ZK, but that's just a guess!

Transitional period from older style to new pillar style between October and December. No exact date unfortunately.

To be honest, it's better just to give the range anyway, there'll always be an old style of anything that some how manages to slip through!

Oh, and for completeness, depending which type the previous poster was thinking of, there are at least two, that don't have the cast in "cups" for Rover 100 mirrors, there's one with an entirely smooth surface, no mirror boss at all, then there's one with a subtlety shaped fairing cast in, for the base of Mk 2 Escort mirrors.

Thanks for the completeness of that response @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary

I'm just glad I don't work in the parts department if that's the variations of just the windscreen mounts...

Absolutely, it’s why I always suggest contacting rather than the web site, for anything not “simple”, too. Trying to provide info and compatibility details for older models, without parts being able to talk to you and ask questions is very, very difficult, and a recipe for incorrect orders, and returns.

Its made even harder by the fact that they’re kit cars, and if you’re the second, third, fourth etc owner, you may have no idea that some parts weren’t even standard to a Westfield build, and perhaps just happened to be laying around, or whatever. And of course the current owner, doesn’t even realise that it’s different, so doesn’t know they need to tell parts that!
