Blatman Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Found these potentially useful resources for Covid-19 facts rather than social media "news" or the inane wonderings of those who think they have the skinny... https://coronavirusexplained.ukri.org/en/ https://www.ukri.org/research/coronavirus/ Oxford University Covid-19 research - this one is really quite good with lots of associated subjects covered. I have NEVER before seen a queue to use a bl**** website 🤫 Not sure if it's a joke or they're just trying emulate a queuing experience for the benefit for us Brits 🤣 I was looking for queues in Spain to compare. I've seen plenty of queues here (London). Not really a surprise. Quote
Arm Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 Blatters. Really good links thanks. Even a quick read is stating currently no known way to stop CV other than isolation. But then run risk of 2nd wave when restrictions lifted. Lifting restrictions inevitable at some point. Will read more. I setup this thread as I'd tried to discuss with others but that kept getting stuck on what politicians had done wrong. Even giving space to get that of their chests wasn't enough. We couldn't move on to what needed to be done. This thread has not descended into that catch 22 situation. Thanks to all contributors . The question I keep coming back to is .... if I'm going to get infected when do I want that to happen. As an engineer that seems a logical question! Quote

As an engineer that seems a logical question! When your local hospital has capacity to ensure you have a fully resourced intensive care bed available is the logical answer. The reason I say this you have no idea how your body will react to the infection. 1 Quote

If I were to weigh up the risks it would be looking sooner. Just as well it's a hypothetical question..... or is it Quote
Blatman Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I agree. Any time soon if you're looking to catch it. At the moment infection control in hospital should at it's best level and they will have nailed their processes and procedures by now. On the back of that I will be interested to see the numbers for hospital acquired infections outside of Covid-19. I am wondering if the current measures are having a positive, negative or neutral effect on those numbers... Quote

That may not be the case, process and procedures may well be mailed, however what about the pesky humans. It is likely the medical staff are more fatigued that normal and as such is now the best time? Quote

There is always a risk that other factors could drag it back down but I think given the high level of contagiousness, even with fatigue I'm betting the front line staff are putting up the proper defence. Arm Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 I was thinking they will get more tired as it goes on plus many may drop out due to contracting CV. Best base a life judgement on what you can currently see. Who knows Quote
DonPeffers Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 My error in quoting media links which could invite political angle so post deleted and moved to another thread. Quote
Steve (sdh2903) Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 You'd have to say as well as well as procedures all being nailed on by now, All our fantastic NHS staff also have a wealth of experience in dealing with this virus now that they didn't have a few weeks ago. Quote
