Newbie Hello!

Good Morning one and all.  Planning on a defection from TVR (Cerbera) and have been working on a possible deal with this Westie with a Blade engine which is at HHC Sportscars whom I have used for some TVR servicing in the past.  Plan is to go and see it Saturday, have a drive and take things from there.  Just wondering if anyone knows anything about it, who built etc?  The idea is to free up some funds from the Cerbera, but have something completely different at the same time.  Long term idea is to 'winter-ize' it with a windscreen/sidescreens but open to suggestions from anyone.

Cheers All,

sticky

Welcome, here’s the link to the car, I presume?

Not much info on spec in the description, Caged roll bar aside, looks fairly standard spec, otherwise. Seems tidy. Not really had many dealings with bike engined cars to advise further though.

What are the thoughts on the caged roll bar?  Is it possible to still fit for example a soft bits or similar half roof and doors?

cheers

I appreciate you're new to the cars but to stand a chance of fitting any type of hood you need a windscreen to fasten the front onto unless of course you press-stud it to your head.

Welcome!

If you plan on a screen etc it sounds like you may be after a more road focussed car?

If so then I’d suggest maybe having a think about a car engine Westy.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Bike engine cars (BEC for short) - but with the smaller Blade engine this one uses, the car needs to be as light as possible in order to take advantage of it.

So Adding any weight (like a passenger!) can see the performance drop. Fantastic to use on a track of course - though it does have wheels that are not ideal (look like 16-17” and 13” or 15” would be better)

We have a few BECs in our group who regularly tour and have aeroscreens - so it’s not out of the question by any means - however they tend to have the much more torquey ‘Busa engines (and the odd turbo!) so that helps.

Of course it’s all down to the individual, but I’d think you’d really need  to try before you buy!

Thanks for the info there.  Plan is to try it on Saturday and go from there.  Agree on the wheels, I would prefer smaller.  Ultimately, if it's a good one, then I can personalise from there, or in technical terms, phaff about....!  Also been pricing up helmets/clothing etc so a very open book at the moment.

Just had a really friendly chat with Patrick at Westfield.  Really helpful and re-assuring which a difference over dealing with main dealers!

Chris, that's great, much appreciated.  I've asked to join the FB Scottish group (I'm in Scotland) to see if anyone knows anything.

Cheers
