K17 CAR
Evening all, I've joined so taken the first step towards coming to play in 2020, I'm looking at W2 and have had a quick look at the blue book to check the eligibility of my car, this raised the first of no doubt many questions I have. Suspension, no rose joints, my car as rose jointed rear suspension and a couple of rose joints on the front, is this a non starter? Induction, "free" so I assume my turbo is ok? No doubt I'll have more questions, thanks in advance for your time.
stephenh
It might help if someone who already competes can have a look at your car. Whereabouts are you based?
Alex Gaskin
Many people have rose jointed suspension in the classes that will come together to make W2, so I wouldn’t see any problem with it. With regards to the turbo, I’m pretty sure that the ruling is different if it is a factory supplied turbo engine or not, for example I thought that if you had a standard factory 1.6 eco boost car, then you’d be able to run in what now will be W1: but if it’s a bolt on you’ve done then you’ll have to go by the 1.4x capacity multiplier by the blue book, this could change your class. K17 CAR
Skegness, bit of an outback I think looking at the areas map. if the cars Road legal (taxed, tested insured) as I see it there's only two classes, W1 or W2, the blue book states induction is free hence I'm "assuming" W2? The car would be W2 without the turbo for clarity. Edited December 5, 2019 by K17 CAR
Alex Gaskin
If the car would be in W2 without the turbo then it will remain in W2 with the turbo.
Terry Everall
W2 is the correct class for you and AFAIK rose joints are fine.

stephenh
K17car, at the moment, you look to have purchased trial membership. You will need to be a fully paid up member to register for the speed series.

K17 CAR
John, I was looking at road car in the blue book. Stephenh, I just created an account quickly, my car is up for sale but if it doesn't sell then looking for somewhere to play in 2020. AdamR, not so sure on that one. Another quick question if I may, catalyst’s? My car currently doesn't have one and doesn’t need one to pass an mot, should I fit one to avoid potential complications? Terry Everall
If you are in a "road going" class then providing you can prove it dos not need a CAT to pass MOT then you don't need one

AdamR
Yeah, just strap one to the car somewhere, to avoid potentially melting your engine. The regs don't state the cat has to be fitted to the exhaust... (or at least they didn't this year). The alternative is a mini cat (cheap off eBay) that goes into a lambda boss somewhere on the exhaust. Stupid solutions I know, but its a stupid rule! Terry Everall
I would think that MOT paperwork should be ok
