Prospective first time westfield owner advice

Recommended Posts

Afternoon all,

im getting pretty close to purchasing my first Westfield and although I’ve read the sticky buyers advice I’m keen to delve further.

whats the etiquette on posting reg plates for background checks? Or links to the advert for feedback on spec, value, things to look for etc?

excuse the ignorance please!

First of all welcome, you can add a link to the cars advert and ask questions , someone may know the car and we all have our own interpretation of what we as individuals are looking for in a car

i suppose the first Question to ask yourself is what do you want to do with it and does the car suit that choice

but we’re happy to help

Now... seriously... witch car are you looking, and what do you expect from her?

im looking for an evening / weekend toy! Something to take out on the roads around me on an evening and a weekend, with the occasional overnight trip or two with the wife!

To this end the one thing this one doesn’t have is a half hood but I believe that can be relatively easily sourced and fitted?

The spec reads well to me but I’m far from an expert.

Any pertinent questions I should be asking? Or things to look for?

thanks again

It may be worth asking if any of our Scottish members who may be close to Aberdeen to join you if you go to view the car. @Gary Taylor - Scotland AO are you able to tag in any Aberdonian's that may be able to help? (Edit! Oops, you already have below :praise:)

From the pics, there's nothing screaming 'run away'! If Carbon fibre's not your thing you could sell the bonnet and nose cone for good money!

The headlights won't be much better than candles at night.

The mileage is good for it's age. It appears to be well put together and NMS have a good reputation.

As you say, you will be able to purchase a roof for the car.

Whereabouts do you live? I'd suggest getting along to a local meet and having a look at as many Westie's as you can to help you decide what you're after etc. Though with the winter months well upon us, some 'softies' SORN their cars !

Good luck with your search.

It’s certainly a nice well spec’d car and not far from here, although I don’t know the car

the only thing to bear in mind is a straight cut gearbox will be noisier than a std one apart from that she appears to be a well sorted and looked after westy

@clansman do you know the car ?

145mph 😲 sounds like it's got a highly tuned speedo! ;)

Build quality.

But, that’s something you need a bit of experience to be able to ascertain.

As has been asked - where are you? Local members will probably be happy to show you their cars and point out what to look for.
