Simon Waterfall Syman84 Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Was just coming on to start this topic. The FIA are useless, I have to unfortunately side with Zi German on this occasion Racing is racing Ham was putting vettle under pressure which caused the error but it was a racing incident No penalty from me as well Quote
Captain Colonial Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Penalty from me. Unsafe rejoin after an off, cut across LH which forced him to take avoiding action. SV put himself on the grass, it was his responsibility to rejoin safely. His behaviour afterwards was an absolute disgrace. If my kid acted like that, moved the boards and blamed everyone but himself, I’d ground him for a week. He still finished second for heaven’s sake. Quote

Absolutely agree he put himself there but how do you slow down over grass? Impossible. I actually think SV did everything he could to not cause a much bigger accident. If he hadn't caught the rear hed have been in the wall and probably collect LH in the process. 21 minutes ago, Captain Colonial said: blamed everyone I dont think he did? Yes he blamed the stewards but never imparted any blame to anyone else? He even told the crowd not to boo Lewis as wasnt his fault. Quote
Alfascozzesi Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Just finished watching on catch up and although a big LH fan SV comes out of it better I think. LH was quickto get the team to forward the complaint during the race and then completely about faced when interviewed, it wasn’t me!! Wasn’t my descision!! Shouldnt have been a penalty full stop. Alfascozzesi Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 SV should have been more vocal at the time over the radio and it may have been different Quote
Captain Colonial Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 SV "If I go on the inside he passes me" If that doesn't suggest that SV was well aware of what he was doing I don't know what does. Quote
Steve (sdh2903) Posted June 9, 2019 Author Posted June 9, 2019 He said 'if he goes on the inside he passes me' referring to LH. I dont think that was possible but that's what he said Quote
Alfascozzesi Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 He knows where the car went after the event so can comment after. Your point infers intention to squeeze. If you look at the footage there isn’t any room even to stay off the track on the left if he could have done but it being grass highly unlikely!! He would be skidding and any movement of the wheel would have had him in a skid and the wall. As I have said a LH fan. Travelled to Singapore to see him race but LH shouldn’t have won it. It’s racing not best health and safety. Quote

SV was still not in control and if I thought he had done a Schumacher I would have been outraged. Quote

Perhaps giving time and making these decisions after completion would be the answer especially if the penalty is to applied after anyway. Quote

Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 A simple remedy for Sebastian would have been to pull a >5 seconds gap - easy if he's so superior! I have yet to watch the race so I may be being a little facetious... I've just watched it on Youtube and while SV did not turn the wheel towards LH, he made no attempt at all to turn away either. It's a case of passive obstruction IMHO. Maybe a more acceptable punishment would have been to have deemed that advantage was gained by SV and that he should have been compelled to allow LH past? He certainly should have had some form of sanction because once he was back on tarmac, at the much lower speed he was then travelling at, he could - should - have veered away from the racing line where he would have known LH would be. To say that LH should have gone past on the inside is disingenuous because the racing line is the only possible line at racing speed. Quote
