It had a nut on before. Came off quite easily. B. Don’t have a welder. C. What the devil do I do now? “What the devil” replaced my own comment, one word censored. Quote

The heat from the welder makes a massive difference to it coming out Quote
CraigHew Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I snapped a head bolt on my Ducati many years ago, had less than that sticking out. Copious amounts of penetrating oil, then tried mole grips: nothing moved. Finally filed two opposing flats onto the shank and managed to get a spanner to turn and free it. The bolt's now on my garage wall, as a reminder of the 5 hours it took to get it out.....! 3 Quote
Thrustyjust Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 A turbo torch would get that red hot, which is what you need to break the rust and some mole grips. Unless you want to get an induction heater stud remover , which are pretty funky. 2 Quote
DamperMan Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Turbo bolts on my campervan... ground those flat, center punched, drilled out dead straight and central (total fluke 3 times!) to almost route of thread then managed to cave in the stud and peel the remaining sliver of thread out. Quote
Westfield Chesil Limited Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 @CraigHew 5 hours! I would have kept it as a reminder too. Quote
