I’m resisting getting it repaired at the moment as the inherent weakness is in the design. I’m looking at a Retroford mounting kit which, subject to dimensions matching would be perfect. Not much else available so if that fails, I can fall back on a repair or probably a remake using the old one as a pattern. Thanks! D😀
Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator Posted August 30, 2022 Author Posted August 30, 2022 My failure was weld rather than bracket design, the weld was shocking no V prep just looked like a surface tack weld!
Benrobson2999 - Kent AO Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 I have the same issue. It’s welded back up but I may give the bracket to a fabricator to try and improve with a similar version 1
Craigieboy Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 An old post, but still appears to be relevant for Black top owners. I was investigating a squeak from the drive belt and found I couldn't tighten the belt fully. I'll try and get it welded locally, however has anyone come up with a better solution? Thankfully it happened at home and not on a run.
Benrobson2999 - Kent AO Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Here’s mine from a couple of weeks ago. Welded up but also keen to hear of any better solutions
Steve.Williams Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Same thing here, discovered today, think I'll get it welded up, but clearly not really up to the job

I've not had any issues with the second bracket, which l feel is down to the extra support added and crucially not overtightening the belt.
