Hi there

Is there anyway the picture resolution can be increased - I know if you click on the pics you get a crisper version

Sort of puts me off posting pics as it is

Can anything be done?

Thanks

Clark

It all impacts in server space Clark.

If we up the res of individual pics then when users upload pics they soon run out of space relating to individual limits.

So by limiting each individual uploaded image size, we all get more pics available for our “allowance”

we could increase it, or change it, but would you rather have 50 high res images or 500 medium ones as an “allowance” - I’m sure most would like more uploads vs higher res but happy to be corrected.

As always though, we the committee are always open to suggestions from the members - after all, it is your forum!

That was just an example - but we have a 5mb limit per individual post and a 500mb limit per member in total.

The software also reduces the size of uploads to help manage this - as generally, viewing images on a computer screen doesn't require a 10-20 megapixel image.

Obviously some will use more than others, but if every one of around 1000 'full' members used up their total, we'd use up a good chunk of storage - plus, members come and go, plus trial members, traders etc and so there's more to consider.

We keep an eye on it and generally keep 'upping' the limits as needed.

I'll look at increasing the actual image size and per-post limits as I think we can 'afford' it in terms of overhead and storage.

@Howsafe Workwear and Safety Equipment note that as a Trader, we do not impose the above restrictions on you (part of you extra benefits) - but be aware that (as Scott found out) should you revet to an ordinary member, your limits would revert too.

I've increased the res now - but if it looks like things are filling up fast, we may need to reconsider this.
