Quinten Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Cheers @bunje, that diagram is the same as what Mike has drawn. I have the Zetec engine loom, but not a standard Westfield loom, as I replaced the (1998 vintage) loom with my own wiring. The previous loom would have not sufficed anyway as it was for carbs and non ECU ignition. Trev's comment about the CPU not booting may well be it, but I need to know I am feeding it the correct things before I can conclude that. Quote
Kit Car Electronics Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Lol, Omex have drawn it more neatly than me! Quote
BenD Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 thats my drawing mike not omex lol there drawing is not the clearest so i ended up doing it myself 1 Quote

It confirms my own knowledge and gives me points to measure at. @Trevturtle, unfortunately I do not have the serial lead to connect it up to a laptop. I can probably find a serial to USB cable if you need. Quote
Quinten Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Big, big, big thank you to @Kit Car Electronics, @Trevturtle, @bunje and the others who helped out with suggestions in the thread (and past threads). NEVER BELIEVE WIRING COLOURS!!!! Using Mike's drawn diagram and a clear head after a troublesome night's sleep I got back into the garage this morning. Measured for continuity between brown at connector and brown at relays. Yes, they are one and the same. Then did the same for the green one at the connector and the green one at the relay. Yes, they are also the same... however, the green at the connector is NOT the ignition 12V, it is the bleeding fuel pump output! So swapped the green and white wires around and sure enough, on turning the ignition, the fuel pump whirs up and shuts after 3 secs. Pressed the starter button and after cranking a bit... IT LIVES!!!! Lots of smoke coming of the exhaust wrap (knew this was going to happen, just needs to be burned off), and the idle is racing up and down between 800 and 1200, so I'm going to look at the throttle cable and ensure it opens the throttle bodies slightly. Also would like to make sure both sides are equally open, so some reading to do on balancing them and seeing if I can find one of those synchrometer things to see what the air flow is into the bodies. Looks like I'll be taxing the car tonight after all 3 Quote
BenD Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 top work Q i had the same sort of problem when i wired mine in the brown wire single plug i mentioned in an earlier post and then i also forgot to put the map in once i got it working lol. do you have throttle bodies or just a single throttle body Quote
Quinten Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Jenvey throttle bodies. Am looking at a synchrometer at the moment, are they all the same other than the mouth/trumpet size? Quote
BenD Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 my next answer was going to be youll need to blance your throttle bodies. i assume there the same Quote
Quinten Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Hopefully someone can confirm that http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARBURETTOR-AIR-VOLUME-SYNCHROMETER-WEBER-DCOE-DCNF-IDF-FREE-POSTAGE-UK-/201417424576?hash=item2ee569fec0:m:mzy4LXlLLMro_eBLLEXe2bQ is suitable? I measured my trumpet diameter at 45mm... Quote
TAFKARM Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Not to be a harbinger of doom, but i'd balance the TBs before you tax it. Its quite an easy job to c*** up. (Not saying YOU would, but I have) Quote
