The LP pump needs to supply sufficient quantity of fuel to maintain the level in the swirl pot. The pump listed may allow the swirl pot to be emptied during hard use as it is suggested it is ok up to 110hp and your engine is rated well above that Ben. In fact you should consider the implications of turning the boost up next year before you decide on a pump!! Quote
BenD Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Right I see thanks for the heads up martyn. Maybe a bit more research required Quote
BenD Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Sorry for the slight thread hijack. I'll continue asking my questions in my build thread Quote

Maybe a bit more research required I guess the question is what is the flow rate required 20 gallons an hour is 90 Lt, so that would mean using 1.5 lt a minute which I would have thought is going some what should we be looking for. BenD Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 i called merlin motorsport yesterday and they reccomended the same pump but the next one up https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/facet-red-top-electric-fuel-pump-only-6-5-7-0-psi-fac-rt Quote
Dommo Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 That's the one I'm getting as part of the winter/spring upgrades Quote
TableLeg Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 What if anything are you all doing about the wiring? Putting both pumps on the original pump wires or running new wires for the second pump? Edit: I guess not much of an issue. All Facet® low pressure fuel pumps 12v or 24v require an 5 Amps source to perform correctly. The DC average is 1.4 amps. Quote
BenD Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 that was going to be my next question jared. i was wondering because my pump primes for 3 seconds then runs when the engine is cranking do i ned to wire the feed pump to the same system or does it need to be different Quote
KugaWestie Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I just extended my fuel pump wires and have both on the same circuit 1 Quote

Then LP pump will operate just as the main one does as when the ECU turns off the main one the LP one will go off too. Quote
BenD Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 if thats the case when i first fill the swirl pot will i need to cycle the fuel pump a couple of times Quote
TableLeg Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 8 minutes ago, bunje said: if thats the case when i first fill the swirl pot will i need to cycle the fuel pump a couple of times The pot should be full or near as dammit on start up anyway. If plumbed correctly the pot should be full in operation spilling excess fuel out of the top back to the tank. When you stop the engine the pot should be full for the next start. Obviously if you'd left the car through the summer without running it some fuel might evaporate but not all of it. Quote
