Hi Andy

I'm in Thetford, I also have a Duratec (SEIW) again pretty new as well.

Have made good contacts with Rory's Dad (mentioned above) who gets local kit car owners together for a drive and a chat.

Also East Anglia kit car club meet up near Attleborough again for meet, greet and days out.

regards

Richard

We should meet up sometime as I have soooo much to learn about all this.

A few of us are meeting up this Saturday at the Dun Cow at Salthouse from 12:00 mid day.  Good beer, good food, good pub, good views and good chats.  Ooooh and look, here's my Westy right outside the front door.

Thanks Richard, sounds good.  Attleborough is easy for me so would be up for that sometime.

Know this coast and pub well, and would be there but apparently I'm cooking chilli for my wife's staff Christmas party!  Please count me in for other trips, and would love to meet up for a good chin wag sometime.

Hi Richard, Rory's Dad was saying you had your geo set up recently using some figures from some guy in Northumberland I think.      Did they work for you, and if so have you got a record of what they were?  Was it done by a regular garage or somewhere with special Westy knowledge?

Thanks, Andy

i must just compliment you on on your choice of colour - you have excellent taste!!

i recently had my car set up by Luke at Playskool. I don't have any figures, but Luke may be able to provide them.

Hmmm, one slight note of caution when looking at figures from a specialist, with lots of experience of Westfields and geo's.

And it's actually related to the whole point of using a specialist in the first place; the geo's will quite often be carefully tweaked to suit the driving style/use/taste of the person who's car they were for. I would recommend treating such figures as a base line only, and figure that you might need to tweak certain settings into the equation.

Most of the time in the past, with geos, no matter where I've gone, the specialist has talked through what I wanted from the car and how it was to be used, then just applied their own settings. Which I go away and typically, rave about!!  :d

However, last time round, with the S2000. I wanted to see what the "standard" cut-sheet settings were like, so I asked for those.

After a lot of "really?", "you're sure?" etcs, their was an awkward silence, followed by, a, "well, if you insist, are you really sure?you won't like it like that, you know..." they agreed to use those figures, although they insisted on changing the camber slightly, (which even I agreed, probably would suit how I like the car to feel). And away I went.

The result, overall OK, but slightly disappointing compared to previous cars in one or two areas. Sure enough, next area meet, from the specialist, "how's the car?" I had to admit what I'd found, thinking, b*******, I'll have to get the car back in to sort it. But fortunately, we discussed their and then how I could adjust the front toe, quickly and easily to what I'd originally been recommended by the specialist. I made the change before driving it again, that following weekend, and oh, how much better it was!

But thats what suited me, others may not like it like that. That's where someone who can find out what you really want, (as opposed to what you might think you want) and then know how to achieve it comes in.

Dunno what I've done with that last reply

Snowy followed some settings provided by AdamR on Facebook and Snowy said his car was 'transformed". Snowy has 'ahem' a very fast bike and I guess will know about cornering speeds.

To get Andy on his way I reccomended he follow Adam's suggestions.  I'm sure they will be fine.  Adam knows what he's talking about IMO! :t-up:

Hi Andy

The set up I got made it feel like a new car I have total confidence in it now. It was done by William at East County Classics in Thetford.

here's a setup that will suit your car / use. All measurements with - important - your weight in the driver's seat:

Rear camber -0.5 to -0.7 deg, 40 mins toe in.

Front camber 0.5 deg more than the rear, 10 mins toe in.

Front ride height at least 120mm (maximum around 150mm), rear 15mm higher than the front.

That will give you a really good baseline setup (y)

Ref the weight his wife sat in the driver's seat holding a bucket of sand to replicate my weight.........

It cost me £90

01842 763841.

Hope this helps.

Regards Richard
