Here we come Bonnie Scottie Land! Please don't rain :marto: but give us Sun

Accommodation is all booked and an idea of potential routes sorted :yellow-westy::db-westy:

We have planned lots of flexibility into the route so that distance between overnights can be a short easy drive if necessary with the option to do much more or even mega miles some days if we so wish.

Day 1 Sun 28th Aug: Manchester - Edinburgh (West)

Day 2 Mon 29th Aug: Edinburgh - Tomintoul (NW Cairngorms)

Day 3 Tue 30th Aug: Tomintoul - Torridon (West Coast)

Day 4 Wed 31st Aug: Torridon - Torridon (circular route)

Day 5 Thu 1st Sept: Torridon - Glencoe

Day 6 Fri 2nd Sept: Glencoe - Bridge of Allen

Day 7 Sat 3rd Sept: Bridge of Allen to Manchester

On either 30th or 31st the objective is to get up into Assynt

then 31st or 1st the Applecross coast

with Skye also a potential for the 1st

If any other members would like to join us for all or in part you are very :ww:

Hi Dave.

if you go to Assynt, its only another 60 miles up north to Loch Eriboll.

It worth the drive just to go on the road around the Loch if you have time.

Thanks

My current thinking was lunch at Kylesku before heading back down, but all is flexible.

Dave what is your proposed route from Edinburgh to Tomintoul?

Dave what is your proposed route from Edinburgh to Tomintoul?

Routes are nowhere near finalised yet but Loosely, Bridge of Cally - Braemar Castle - dangler Bridge - Kildrummy Park Castle - Dufftown - Glenlivet - Tomintoul

or possibly start more Westerly with Crief - Loch Tay - Pitlochry ...

Well if you go the Bridge of Cally...........etc I could meet you at Kildrummy and continue round to Tomintoul where I would then head over the Lecht and home.........

We're definitely doing Spittal of Glenshee - Braemar and on North that side of Cairngorm so sure we can sort meeting up for the end section (perhaps you could lead us knowing the roads?)

We're going up in Eddie the week before you, Looks like I'm going the other way around though starting at Glenco then up to Inverness and the Highlands ( may even have a day or two on the Orkney's before we work our way back down the east coast.

Any suggestions for places to visit ( including distilleries ) most welcome

Lets hope we don't need this :marto:

OK here are our 'proposed' 'maximum mileage' routes (as Linkees):

Our 'minimum mileage' routes will be quickest between B&Bs.  :yellow-westy:  :db-westy:

Just downloaded Tom Tom Go app to keep us on route, looks up to the job.

We will probably end up driving somewhere between min and max depending on touristic stoppages/weather/conditions/number of wee drams night before etc.

Day 4 Wed 31st is circular so we will be luggageless, if there is anyone over Torridon Way that would like to passenger, PM us.

Should be able to catch a couple of late afternoon Distilleries after booking into B&B - With alternate nominated driver.

Tomintoul/Glenlivet, & Deanston. Will also pass others but probably not a good idea to partake during the day's drive!

Hopefully we'll have WiFi and mobile signals in the evenings if there is any interest in meeting up on following day  :ww: .

Wish us luck - Neither of us have full hoods & Weather forecast is not looking particularly good    :marto:  :marto:
