John K Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Funny, I'd have said the same till this last year. I can't imagine not having him on somewhere though, been there all my adult radio listening life! Ditto... but I've not listened to his show for over a year. Will give it a go to see what's happened / changed Quote
iain m Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 What concerns me is what they pay these past it DJs or whatever they are now called, they are an embarrassment, Chris Evans is already in that league and he certainly is not in need of any more cash. The next TG production team is certainly in the right field for a like for like replacement for more humiliation than the ever popular reality shows and will certainly have to pay him several £million more than the previous incumbent. Mooch Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 There is one Steve (Steven) Wright who never fails to make me laugh https://youtu.be/Z9ciHpT4WuM Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Couldn't stand Steve Wright on R1 and find him even worse on R2 - particularly his serious Jocking feature and his constant playing of The Associates (Billy MacKenzie) one hit 1 Quote
Captain Colonial Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I had the radio in the car on one Sunday morning to R2 and accidentally heard Steve Wright's Love Songs. I nearly went into a coma from sugar overload, but luckily I managed to change the station before I passed out. 2 Quote
Chris Hooper Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 The Skoda has a DAB radio so I more choices now. For the record I enjoyed 5live for years but I enjoy the political stuff not the sport. Since I discovered LBC I haven't looked back. Quote
John K Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 what the devil is "Serious Jocking"..? I came back from my folks today so caught the last 45 mins of his show and to be honest I didn't find anything offensive at all. Then he himself mentioned "Serious Jocking" would be on the Friday show, I may be painting my dining room so might tune in to witness this radiophonic marvel first hand. @Our Beloved Lord and Master (may we all quiver and genuflect at the mention of his name)... Never mind "Love Songs", there used to be something on Radio 1 called "Our Tunes" (or something), basically a terrible sob story read out to some dreadfully sad music. I was driving for Hertz at the time and several times nearly crashed though either cringing or laughing behind the wheel Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 WHY ? did you have to remind me of the "Our Tunes" feature and Simon Bates ..................... chunder bucket time 2 Quote
jeff oakley Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Our tunes, yes some classic laugh out loud stories on that one. I loved the ones with a heart wrenching story and then the song was so inappropriate. Quote

Something like "... and so my husband has been impotent since the accident, can you please play You Raise Me Up, by Westlife" 1 Quote
