AdamR Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 http://www.iopd.org.uk/ They seem to be one of 11 recognised governing bodies, on par with the MSA. Quote

benedwards64 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Looks like their Google search count just shot up 1 Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 That's very interesting, will have to have a proper read. They go on even more than me about Authorised but it's very good to see that they do have the liability issues sorted. Quote
benedwards64 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Well if anyone else fancies it, I've booked the next round at Croft on the 16th August. http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=296&Itemid=901 Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 Not particularly, but I like the variety of cars with Javelin and I get to do it with my best mate and many friends I have known over the yars from my Toyota days. Plus, the relaxed classes mean I don't have to worry about too many regs and there's only 6 rounds a year, so I have plenty of free weekends. Tis only a bit of fun Speed series...Variety _ all the sprints have profusion of different cars road and track. Friends _ we are all friends and the off track banter is brill Toyotas _ definitely seen Toyotas at several rounds Classes _ there's something for all types 6 rounds _ Speed Series has a 5 rounds to count max 6 entered Championship FUN _ garranteed! :) 1 Quote
benedwards64 Posted June 29, 2015 Author Posted June 29, 2015 Are you on commission? I appreciate the enthusiasm but I'm booked in with Javelin for the rest of the year and I don't have the time (or funds!) for a separate series. I only posted this up originally as I thought there might be a bit of interest in something different. Last time round I had a great battle with a chap in a rally-prepped Mk1 Escort who I'm rather looking forward to battling with at Croft (especially as I've now got a set of SG R888s ) 1 Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Just hooked on sprints and the WSCC SS banter after trying it out! Individual Battles do make the day when no chance of winning Sticky tyres make a big difference... have a gud'un Quote
benedwards64 Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 Next round at Croft this weekend. The Duratec V6 Westy and the Caterham from Woodbridge are booked on as well, and there's also an Ultima of some sort in our class. I'll be aiming to get closer to the Westy and further ahead of the Caterham - be curious to see how much difference the R888s make. Quote
benedwards64 Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Well, managed to get a few pics sorted from the weekend at Croft. This was my second sprint and, again, on a track I'd never driven. Croft certainly takes some balls to drive fast! The sheer volume of cars meant I only got 6 timed runs, which meant less time to get to know the track. My first three were still feeling my way around a bit, and then on the lunch break I did a bit of homework (known as 'frantically watching youtube videos from last year to learn the track better!). My best run was straight after lunch - a 1:44.02 (after a first run of 1:51.44) which I was pretty happy with. I even knew where I could make up more time, but alas it was not to be. I got a really good start on my last run and then locked up into Tower Bend, resulting in a fairly spectacular spin. I ended the day third in class, behind the same 3.0 V6 Westfield who beat me at Woodbridge and a Chevy V8-powered Ultima. I'm not too sad about that given that I have at least 100bhp less than either of them, and with my new sticky R888s I was only 3.2 seconds off the pace (as opposed to ~6 seconds last time around). Only one slight issue to sort before the next round - apparently it was throwing fuel out on fast right handers. Probably something worth fixing.... Anyway, a couple of pics of the day: Next round, Blyton. I'm looking forward to that a lot - not only is it a shorter, twistier circuit which should negate my comparative lack of power a tad, but I've driven it a handful of times before. Fingers crossed Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Yes, Croft has some very fast bends. 6 runs is good. There are some good videos posted showing lines on the July Blyton Sprint thread on here. Quote
Terry Everall Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Have a look at the speed series results for our times at Croft this year so you can compare Quote
benedwards64 Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 Thanks guys, I'll check them out. Terry - not sure how comparable the times are as it depends on where the start/finish lines are set up. A few of the competitors this year were getting slower times than last year because the timing beacons were in different places.... Anyway, for those of you still reading, have a few pics of the other cars taking part: ...and a good one of mine I found posted by another attendee: Quote
