CrisisWolf
"Cooking Model"? Guess this suggests my cams are 'done' then. I am mildy confused (as I haven't looked into it yet) why I have two pipes along the top, one is clearly a cold air feed to the box air filter at the rear of the engine bay but not sure about the other (with the large shiny black plastic bit) is. Haven't actually studied in any detail, just first impression seems a bit odd.
B.RAD
There were three versions of 1.8 available, in 105, 115 and 130 outputs. The 130 was only fitted to the RS1800 so quite a rarity. You have a 1.8 115 unit, but it's clearly got RS cams. You can upgrade the cams further (around £500) to give you closer to 150bhp, but it would be wise to consider changing your air box set up as that is quite restrictive. All depends on your budget and skills really, probably wise to think about what power you want, then work out how to get it. You may find it's cheaper overall to sell up and buy one with the output you want already achieved, but that's never as fun!
CrisisWolf
Not after anything crazy. What would be a good air setup other than changing panel filter?
B.RAD
Others may be able to help you more there but I know it is a common upgrade, if for nothing more than to get a better source of cold air than the bulkhead! Good luck with it all, whatever you choose to do.
CrisisWolf
My thoughts exactly, cool air from the rear of the engine bay doesnt seem ideal!

CrisisWolf
Manual suggests 130 is 2.0 and 115 is 1.8 tho? Engine says Model MVH418. Engine was bought in Nov 1998 new from Ford. Photos here for comment: I guess there is no easy way to know if the cams are upgraded without stripping and checking? I plan to open the air box and see if I'm running a standard disposable paper or if it has a K&N/Piper cotton panel in there as that's an easy change. I've also seen looking under Focus Mk1 etc (1800 Zetec) tuning ECU remaps for 10-15hp. I was looking to replace the long convoluted air intake route I have shown above (i.e. into the engine bay, around the front and side of the engine, through the panel filter, then back round and into the engine) to something much simplier like in T3OMFs car: He's told me the generic spec of that K&N as "K&N RC-2600" (http://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/product.aspx?prod=RC-2600&pkid=1504907&rw=1) which I assume mine would be the same component and ditch the rest.
