I remember the firts fax machines by a company whose name I cant remember. They were based in Tottenham Court Road and I serviced the reps cars at the garage in Whitfield St/Maple St. The filled the back of Avenger estates.

I'm going to see if I can find the name.

ed to add that I can't find it. It may have been Kalle Infotec or something like it. This was in the 70s.

Casualty is full of accidents from the distractions of ipods and mobile phones but it's the next step for the white van man that is bored with part of a phone hanging on his ear all day, and a major problem for young women when they suddenly find they have another hand that works.

Wearable computers will be the future. We already are having mobile phones which are more for mobile computing than phone.

How we manage it is always going to be a problem. Just like using mobile phones in cars now.

You can't stop technology so its how we adapt that matters. I don't see any difference between this and a decent smartphone to be honest.

When we watched Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek or read/watched Arthur Clarkes novels/films did we really think we would see the stuff they had thought up in our lifetimes, or at all?

I agree that technology is going to far and this would be extremely irritating if everyone wore these ridiculous things its bad enough everyone tinterneting and texting on mobile phones every second of the day!! However the technology these things provide can give a certain amount of independence for some people. Last year I looked after a chap with a muscle wasting disease resulting in him not being able to move at all but he was trialling a computer it worked using a pair of glasses and in the right lens was a computer chip and to communicate he moved his eye side to side and this would spell out the letters he was as quick as speaking it was phenomenal so technology has its place at times I think.

I've had my wife whine at me for being on here a lot... Now I'm trying to enjoy some time watching a film... Yep, iPad's out and here she is!

I think it's gone too far. I was a computer tech 2001-2008 and that was pretty much pre iPhone era. I got the 3GS in 2010... I think. If I went to my old workshop and picked up a bit of kit I couldn't tell you how to turn it on! I was an Instructor for the equipment that was in service. Since then everything was removed, updated and I know how to operate/maintain that to a good level. But that's been removed from service for at least 6 months!

As for these google glasses... What the hell will happen to the roads? Already there's people talking and texting on phones and momentarily have eyes off road or concentration not on the road and accidents caused. What about if they're watching a lesbian porn scene while driving home from work... ???

I had a DVD player in my Mini, touch screen one that was single din and came out of the dash. As car's changed, that came with me and went in the new car each time. But sold it when I got the Westfield.

However, as a non-drinker for a few years, I drove people everywhere. Few beers in Blandford, drive to Bournemouth, no food or drink in the car! But there would be the DVD player going. Didn't take long for them to start putting porn on! Fun idea, however the sober 5 that became a drunken 8 suddenly didn't... The alcohol took opposite swing, so a sober 5 became drunken 3 and not one of the guys was happy with any girl.

I also used to drive a mate to work, doorman at spearmint rhino, in return he'd let a carful of our mates in free and chat to the girls/staff. So they had preferential treatment and all felt like 007!!! Was great to watch them at the pub/club after. Not one girl was ever worth them talking to.

Those were the days! Then I got to Brum and all people did was drink and shop. Driving in was a waste as parking would be more than a taxi! When doing the Bournemouth-Blandford treks at 3am I got pulled by police all the time! Sometimes twice in the same journey. Early hours, car full of blokes... Assumed alcohol. Never had a single drink. Often a car full of sleeping blokes would be left in the car park... Or when rolling into parking space I'd slam brakes on and scream... Best way to wake up people that are asleep in your car!!!

However, just thought of another endorsement! If they made the tech smaller and less obvious you could sit there watching the F1 while having the with jibber on about stuff or watch die hard during a meeting at work...

I WANT SOME!!!
