They register batches of cars every month end to manipulate the SMMT registration figures. They just want to keep their cars at the top of the league tables.

I understand about pre registering to keep the sales figures up, but these people have told me they get registered in their name when it leaves the pound, and then I become the 'second' owner when I either pick it up or they deliver, I'm happy with that.

I cant remember what my V5 said when I eventually got it, but by then it is a bit late to moan about it when you have had the car for 6 months and put some miles on it.

 

As I said though, it made absolutely no difference when I sold the car

Paul, same thing, they (the dealers) are buying them in batches and draw them down when they want them. This way they can choose the spec and colour they want.

I asked about the first name in the V5 when I placed the order, i was told it would be the parent company of the group.

As I understand it the dealers get a bigger discount the more cars they buy from the manufacturers. So they order extra cars to get the bigger discount, any left over cars at reg change time are then registered and sold preregistered therfore second hand, because they are not allowed to give big discounts on new cars.

Wifeies fiat was pre reg delivery miles (6) 25%off list, v5 turned up within two weeks
