Steve Robinson Posted October 11, 2002 Share Posted October 11, 2002 he's joined the Motorsport Club........ and he writes.... how annoying, 30 of us at go karting last night, pretty crap venue but well organised, 4 leagues, leading to 4 semi finals and a final. So i am in league 4, five races per league to decide semi finals. grids are randomly selected so you set off from different spots each time i.e no specific advantage! but i am in the group with the club chairman who is "Tidy" apparantly. I managed a bit of crap driving in race 1, but consistency meant we were level pegging in the last race where i won and he came second-he was gutted to say the least. that was it my name was all over the paddock "the one in the fancy overalls...." etc. so into the semis we go, everyone had a semi but depending on your league position determined your slot on the grid, 10 laps to prove your worth for the final, luckily i bagged an easy semi and won that and lined up 4th for the final (randomly selected) the top 7 drivers there, this time 15 short laps. And i was one of the four fastest, lap 6 in i caught second place, and to my suprise its alex the chairman again-quite quick but i was all over him, and towards lap 12 i thought i d go for it, into a corner not disimlar from the mole hill at curborough, i lined my kart up for the inside thinking he would back off but oh no, side beside heading for the turn in, he turned into me as if to give me no where to go but i resisted and pushed him, by which time we were right on the corner and his kart was marginly ahead, because of the position of his kart my nudge saw him round for a 180 degree spin and me up to second, but no chance of the win, so i am steaming on only to be shown the black flag on lap 14, after much discussion between marshals, i didnt bother coming in i thought it was a mistake but it was settled i was out, finished a decent second but was disqualified! absolutely gutted, but think i made the team we ll have to wait and see. alex the chairman wasnt too chuffed but thats racing.
