New owner - what advice would you give to yourself back when you were first starting out?

Hi, Totally new to owning a Westfield but really excited as been wanting to find the perfect car to start my classic car journey for years and should be picking up my Westfield next week. I wanted to ask for any bits of advice that maybe you wish you knew back when you were first starting out and were new to it all. I'm getting a 1997 SE. It's got a Burton Power kent crossflow engine with stage 3 cylinder head. When i looked it over it think the rev timing is too slow and the carbs need tuning but apart from that seems all pretty good. What are those good tips and tricks for a new owner? Best starter tools to invest in? Most important maintenance jobs to learn first? Very much a beginner but really keen to learn everything so any help and guidance is appreciated -

Hi all! After about 40 years hankering after a sevenesque car, I finally took the plunge at the weekend and I'm the very proud owner of a gorgeous Westfield! I've always been a petrol head and have recently put together a track day R53 BMW Mini (that my eldest is now inheriting). Being 6ft 4 I wanted a wide bodied car and ideally a 2.0 zetec or redtop, and I also like the more modern cycle wing look. After much searching, I finally found one I fell in love with, a '96 SEIW in yellow and carbon fibre with a 2.0 blacktop, twin 45 Weber's, TD 1.2's, Gaz coilovers etc and loads of history. John, the previous owner (a really nice guy!) was a long term member of the WSCC and recommended I join. I'm sure people here will know the car. She's not perfect or a show car, but she's all mine! 😁 I'm looking forward to meeting some other owners (weather permitting!) and picking your brains when I inevitably start fettling, fixing and upgrading! Great to be part of the Club! Rob- 23 replies

Just joined the club last week, based in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, purchased a Cat D westfield Seight euro a couple of weeks ago, 3.9 v8 RPI tuned engine, a 1999 car, very light rear damage, fuel tank and rear tub, no chassis or suspension damage, so should be a easy repair, I would be interested in finding out the history of this car. The car is reg number T*** PDG last reg was M** HBE, are you still a member on here? Do we get a discount from Westfield on parts? I will have lots more questions to come, as I have never had a Westfield before, although Ive built two MK Indys before, and also had a Aries kit car, all with bike engines, regards Paul
