Bonnet mould having release coats applied, and between coats getting templates made up for the cloth layup. Thinking of doing a 0/90 spread tow for the scoop, and twill for the remainder. 45/45 biax mid layer, and coremat for extra stiffness. Haven’t done weight calcs yet, but should end up much lighter than the grp bonnet, and of course be much stiffer. Haven’t decided on vents as yet, but will make these separately and make them into a feature. Using the plug for my templates, and will be doing an infusion.14 points

I arrived at Paul Jnr house today. the house facing his was abandoned when it was just a concrete shell with a roof on. It was then bought and completed to a very high standard, to day I met Kasper from Denmark, the new owner. I will let the photos tell the rest of the story😎 I think it’s fair to say Kasper is into his cars. turn up the volume 😄10 points

Thank you Bob. Yes, I copied and pasted every page in it's entirety directly from the forum (including comments) into a Word document, keeping my text in 'black' and changing club member comments to 'blue'. Tbh, it was an extremely tedious and time consuming process, but I wanted to capture everything. The final couple of pages show the emojis of all the contributors 🙂. After formatting to remove spaces between entries and to get suitable margins, I saved the file to 'pdf' (approximately 94 Mb in size) and sent it off to an internet company be printed. The printing cost less than £100, compared to almost £200 in one of the high street 'specialist' shops.8 points

For the wimps out there, like me, who sorn there cars in winter, here’s how I do it. I have a couple of four wheel trolleys and with some strategical placed bits of wood I support the car so I can move it in any direction, to make most use of the limited space in a single garage. The timber supports the chassis and doesn’t allow the suspension to go into full droop. And here it is fully covered with old curtains and thick dust sheets under the Halfords car cover.4 points

Unfortunately, I’m the only one around here driving a Westfield, at least in this area. I really envy you for having such a great community! Maybe I’ll prepare my track-only Westfield for road use for the next season — then I’ll be able to go with one of my sons, or just enjoy watching both of them having fun with the Sevens EDIT : as for "you realize just how special it is to own and drive one" - here , with no other similar cars around it feels from that perspective even more special !3 points

Yes I go with that i love going out on solo drives when I can really open the taps but then on the other hand we go out on as regular as possible on area club drives I don't know if you have many other westies near you on these drive outs we drive in a reasonably orderly manner but it's seeing a westie in front of you and looking in the mirrors and seeing more behind you realize just how special it is to own and drive one and to be part of such a great club with like minded members3 points

I went to view a 450 Chimaera on Wednesday at Lowe Classics near Abergavenny. They have some very nice cars for sale, nearly all on sale or return. They don't seem to mind people popping in for a nose but if you want a drive you need to book. They also I think sometimes do a kinda cars and coffee type thing on weekends now and then. Next door is a large workshop who do all their maintenance on the cars, they are young guys who really seem to know their stuff as they have worked on so many classics and exotica. They have also had quite a few kits through here over the years. If you're local and are looking for someone to work on your Westfield or classic, they'd be well worth talking to. Here are some of the cars they had for sale, some very valuable stuff there! Classic cars for sale in Abergavenny | Lowe Classics https://share.google/eKRXGq6Gur8dCgRdc3 points

You can get the option to have the light move like newer cars direction indicators do. The colours are different ie instead of just red on/off you get white reverse, stop/tail indicator etc then choose which you need2 points

Supposed to be dry, I can actually make Thursdays now so fingers crossed my first will be the last of the year, in the westie too if it is dry lol2 points

As long as the weather and health hold up – gotta keep doing it! It’s not gonna last forever… But while you can – just go for it! This clip’s actually 2× speed,:) but it still shows what’s I felt and what is awesome about kit cars – it’s not about the km/h, it’s all about the feeling. But I am sure You know that ! Way more intense than in any regular production fancy car!2 points

Anyone want to meet up tomorrow morning, 2nd November at the Motorist? Have a chat and a coffee if the queue isn't too long. The weather is looking good and it might be one of the last chances to get out this year. I'll be there from 11am.2 points

Hello I'm luke rom north Wales a new member just acquired my first Westfield this week, must say i love it not surer why i haven't had one sooner after owning a variety of cars, i have joined the forum to gather as much information as possible as i don't know an awful lot. the car is a 2001 seiw in green has a red top engine and it goes really well i don't know to much regarding the engine itself i was told its had a fresh build a couple years ago with pistons etc.. and been told it has uprated cams but not sure as he didn't know and no receipts. i look forward to learning about the car and getting out in it next summer its a bad time to get one coming into winter but I'm very impulsive and once ide seen it had to have it2 points

Welcome, I’ve got a red top in the one I’ve taken to replace my V8, it has had some work done but is having more done during the winter. It’s currently in bits and the engine builder is working his magic.😉 lots of other bling and goodies to add this winter.2 points

Welcome! Yes, trial members need to use an external image hosting site, full members can upload directly to the forum - it's one of the (many) perks - and the storage space for photos is one of the things the subscription covers! The Redtop is a fantastic engine in a Westfield, I have many very fond memories of mine.2 points

I don't have any paint. Just the original green gelcoat. So matching is much harder. I work in the yacht coating industry and have had a couple of gelcoat repair specialists look, and they both said it would be a very tricky match. Painting the car would be an easy option, but then the original gelcoat would be lost forever.1 point
-
Yes - I am planning to re-paint the wheels, if/as necessary, depending on the final design choice.1 point
-
Paint matching is incredibly accurate these days if your existing paint is scanned then that's exactly what your get i can understand you wanting to wrap there's a gulf wrapped car that I keep seeing at mk open days even has mud on the print looks awesome it's done really well seems a popular wrap unless it's the same car.1 point

If you do JPS, be aware that you will have an overwhelming desire to either get your existing wheels refinished to gold or get new gold wheels, so factor that cost into things.1 point
