Well I’ve managed to get an engineers report from a Vauxhall specialist that dates the engine at 1990 so no cat needed. I’ve also just had a reply back from DVSA who have confirmed this would be enough proof of the age of the engine! So I’m gonna take this to the test station soon… I will update on progress! Hopefully with an MOT pass!11 points

Got the 'Malvern' feeling today as we were all stood about yakking in a field for a few hours after freezing for a hour on a dual carriageway early in the morning. I thought I would park as close as possible to Bagpuss😕 The armed response had followed @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO into Curborough, which worried him slightly! @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman cosied up to them in the car park because the colour scheme matched his car. Then @Stu Faulkner and Ethan arrived @HB46443 @Mark19691 @Lee beech and Paul parked in the naughty corner with @TonyH While we all had a good catch up we watched the Caterhams on track and quickly glanced the paddocks oh fancy that, I have photographed a MX5, oops Ian led a run up to the Peak District and to Tagg Lane for ice cream. It was nice to follow someone else for a change so thank you Ian. Tagg Lane Tagg Lane ice cream Tagg Lane, ice cream all gone Everyone headed off from here in a very different direction to us, so we solo'd to The Pavilion, Baslow for a coffee before heading home. Flippin radiator fan switch isn't turning off. If anyone can source a 90 to 95 one please let me know, there are millions on ebay, huff. A champion day out, a bit last minute but glad we upped and went, great to see you all xxx5 points

We all met at Quacker's cafe and because the sun was out it was warm enough to sit outside. Parked at Quacker's We went on a drive through the Peak District on remarkably quiet roads, up high, with great views in the cool, clear air. The sunshine accentuating the scenery, it was glorious and I must thank all you great drivers for keeping the convoy together all the while. Parked at the Traveller's Rest, Bradwell Lunch inside at The Traveller's Rest, it was freezing by now as the clouds rolled in Jake, missing from the previous pic More food required so we went down to The Pavillion, Baslow Parked at The Pavillion Cake arrived Inside The Pavillion, far too cold to sit outside Another fantastic day out in our great little cars and another quiet Bank Holiday in the Peak District, can't believe our luck. Thank you to everyone for joining us today and see you all soon x5 points

Well, what a day for a run out. Sunshine all day. Great turn out of 6 Westfields, 2 bikes and 2 other cars, @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator in his new lotus and a BMW. Meeting at the Motorist at 10:30, I had my brother with me as a taster for the Lakes and Dales tour next month, we left at 11 and went to the Wheels cafe in Sykehouse, around 25 miles away. I only missed one turning, as I was looking behind to make sure we were all together and not watching the satnav. I've not been this way before. It's in a pub, but a bikers cafe which was surprisingly empty. Sausage sarnies all round. Leaving there, we took the "scenic route" around Barnsley and headed for the Carding Shed at Holmfirth. Another drink and some food and then on our way home. Sorry to leave @Steve Bosworth and @Glynn Walters eating, but I had a cold beer waiting. I did hear some murmurings about there not been enough food and cake stops, but couldn't say anything about that @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Thanks to all who came along.4 points

Yeah it had a new chassis so was effectively started again. The engine alone is probably £8K looking at the SBD website4 points

No sign of the map reader though !!!! Under the table probably 🤣4 points

That’s a huge understatement - in my view, for any competitive event, it is essential not advisable to replace the “jap” (aka chocolate) cosmetic roll bar with something that would actually save your life in the event of a rollover.4 points

... I think @Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somersetis taking orders for seats/padding. I'm pretty sure his come in for less than £400 a side.4 points

I did, probably the best location to have it installed in my car, away from the heat soak of the engine bay. Entirely designed in CAD by myself, then built by ProAlloy to the exact spec.4 points

Thank you @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative for a great run around the peaks ( I know you really wanted a lie in 😴) another fantastic day with like minded friends taking in the scenery and eating lovely food, see you all soon luv Andy & Becky All in a straight line !!!! doing as were told 🫡 following the leader out of Quackers quiet roads and blue sky then back down to the trees have fun drive safe , till next time4 points

Hi All, Is there any of you that are thinking of doing Malvern this year in the fantastic sunshine. If you are we do have a need for some volunteers here and there to assist with this magnificent event. You won't be chucked in the deep end and it will be a great laugh plus may be a free t shirt. If you are interested please fill your details in and we will get back to you. Also if you are an AO can you please plug this in your chat groups and area meets. Cheers Bellboy3 points

As lovely as your car is, I’ve seen it before so I’ll look at the rest of the photo.3 points
-
This is the first request I've seen for volunteers this year, I must have missed it. Where do I fill in the details?3 points
-
I'm sure I volunteered, but I'm not on the list. So I'm re-volenteering.3 points
-
Think I'm already down for volunteering. I'll be there all weekend.3 points

Best way to save weight for sure, not the cheapest tho 🤣 But I can vouch for Ash's parts quality, gorgeous stuff. Surely the best Westfield carbon parts money can buy.3 points
-
That is mad! Another option is put on some weight so you are nicely ‘tight’ in the seat. Acceptable with age.3 points

Afternoon all, Pains me to do this but the time has come to sell the Westfield. Life and other commitments has meant that (other than taking it out for pictures yesterday) it's only really been out of the garage for MOT's in the last 2 years 😔 I bought the car back in 2020, starting life as a 1999 SEiW with a 2L Zetec engine, since then it's had a full chassis up rebuild and S2000 engine/gearbox fitted. I'll list a spec below but the build diary will give the full picture: https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/140363-1999-seiw-refresh-f20c-install/ MOT renewed today, expires 15th May 2026 Less than 1,000miles since it's rebuild (was at 14,880 when I put it back on the road, currently sitting at 15,765) Engine - 1999 F20c w. 94,881 miles when fitted - Oil jet bolt upgrade (common early F20c issue) - Baffled sump - Rallydesign Engine Mounts - ARF Alloy Oil Catch Can - 4x New Denso Coilpacks - OMEX 630 ECU (Mapped by Russ @ Mac Motorsport - 228.5bhp // 155.6ft.lbs) Gearbox - S2000 Gearbox (same mileage as engine) - Flywheel skimmed - Compbrake Clutch Master Cylinder - Sierra 3.91 Non-LSD Rear Diff. - Prop. Shaft fabricated by Propshaft Services in Bonnybridge Exhaust - Westfield Exhaust Manifold - Westfield Decat Secondary - Wunoff Repack Backbox (I have a backbox w. CAT for MOT) Cooling - 55mm Coolex Alloy Radiator - V8 Fan - ARF Alloy Expansion Tank Fuel - Baffled Fuel Tank w. Sump added - APS Fuel pump Wheels - Force Racing SLR9 3-piece wheels (13x7 et15) - 205/60r13 Toyo R888 Tyres Brakes - Rebuilt M16 Front Calipers - Mintex M1144 Front Pads - Rebuilt Sierra Rear Calipers - Greenstuff Rear Pads - Braided lines Chassis - All additional bracing added from a 2020 chassis added - Lowered floor pans - Additional diff. cradle bracing - All freshly powder coated (zinc primer then black powder coat) - Caged Laser Full Rollcage Suspension & Steering - AVO 7" 400lbs Front Springs - AVO 12.5" Front Dampers (Rebuilt) - AVO 8" 225lbs Rear Springs - AVO 14" Rear Dampers (New) - Rallydesign Wide Track front wishbones - Playskool Nylon Bushes - 2.4 Rallydesign Steering Rack - Go-race steering column Interior - Fibreglass Seats w. Luso Motors padding - TRS Harnesses - VDO Odometer - Revotec 10k Rev Counter - VDO Oil Temperature Gauge - VDO Oil Pressure Gauge - VDO Water Temperature Gauge - VDO Fuel Gauge - 300mm Suede Steering Wheel Carbon - Front wheel arches - Tunnel top - Bootlid - Dashboard - Kick Strips - Scuttle - Pedal Cover - Elbow Strips - Rear Bulkhead Bodywork - The bodywork isn't perfect, I purposely chose not to have all the imperfections fixed and painted when I rebuilt the car, I was scared OCD would stop me taking it out on track if I did. - Everything is presentable (as you can see from the pics), bodywork cleaned inside & out, inner wings of the tub painted black, some parts of the bonnet strengthened with carbon etc. but there are some wee cracks here and there (drivers rear arch, some marks on the nose cone) Embarrassed to say I only managed the one track day 🫢 was a good chance to put the car through it's paces and it did flush out a couple of small issues: - couple of starter motor bolts came loose, slightly longer bolts installed and torqued - fuel starvation on right handers, fuel pump has now been moved lower to underneath the diff. cradle - grease spraying from the prop. shaft, had Propshaft Services regrease it with high-temp. grease Not had a chance to get it back out on track and confirm that lowering the fuel pump has done the trick, but not had any issues with it on the road. Hard to put a price on this to be honest, especially when the only other S2000 Westfield's I could find for sale is a factory built one at Toybox for £28,995 and a Supercharged one on eBay for £32,000 😮 Let's try £24,000 ono. I know how much I have in the car and I'd be looking to get that back, so there is some wiggle room there to make a deal. I will caveat that I'm not in any rush to sell...happy to let it sit in the garage for another year than accept a low ball offer just to get rid.3 points

It's a chargecooler tank with a footrest plate, sized to go into the passenger footwell 😊3 points

Hi! I'm sorry I completely forgot to report back. In short: it was brilliant and I had a fab time. Disclaimer first: my car is an absolute weapon driven by an absolute tool. I have not done any track days before - the few laps around Castle Combe I did in an Impreza and an Elise some years ago don't really count. So I have nothing to compare my experience to. The track was smooth to me in some sections and fairly rough concrete and tarmac in others. There was a lot of loose stuff in some parts for half the day - until multiple passes cleared it. At least one car ended up with a stone chip/small crack in the windscreen. The layout had mostly quite tight turns and one fast sweeper which also switched to off-camber halfway through. This one provided a great learning opportunity for me and I committed more and more throughout the day. It's an airfield so some will miss the elevation changes (corkscrew :-)) and I am sure I'll crave it. However, having nothing to hit and less to deal with was perfect for a beginner. There were 20 people in total - sold out - and probably only ever about 10 on track at the same time. This allowed me to drive my own thing for most of the time. Plus easy passing and - ahem - ample opportunity to let faster traffic overtake. The staff were friendly, relaxed yet totally professional. The atmosphere among the punters the same. I loved it and I am hoping to return later this year. If you have any questions please just ask!3 points

I have an aero screen, my teeth were chattering for a while but serves me right for not wearing enough layers! Great to meet some new westy owners. I had to make the trip as Stu promised me a bacon roll. I'd drive anywhere for one of those 😋3 points

The secret is out!! Well spotted @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO. We were at H and H Car Auction, Buxton Pavillion. Our friend from the car museum bought that truck in the background, he drove it home to Derby that evening, in the dark (it was winter) with brakes that barely worked. It was a funeral directors truck and has now sold it on at good profit.2 points

But apart from being an MOT tester, MOT tester trainer, MOT manager, MOT manager trainer, and 50 years of MOT experience, and a great club member and Area Organiser, what has Martyn ever done for us? 🤣2 points
