Westfieldman Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Hogman are you still running I can still see you and thats not running fast boy Oh and the VX boys can start jogging too [just to loose a few kg's] Raceline and minster should have engines and engines in 7 cars at autosport in Jan 03. All dynos can read what ever but Chris Smith says "standard Ford bottom end with pocketed pistons, cams, and DTH throtle bodies 225bhp" no head work is needed for this bhp so even if it goes bang its cheap to replace. Unilerver shares down again so plans are in resesion Paul. Quote
windy Posted December 2, 2002 Posted December 2, 2002 Too much "torque" of power and not whats important. VX is still "torqueing" louder than Ford!!!! Windy Quote
hogman Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Yep will be needing Houghtons Removal Services Inc in the future, probably January as there are still afew things to sort! Ta very much! Am still running for the hills Westfieldman, but could do with a lift!! Has to be said these Ford n Vx engines are far tooooooooooo heavy, why not get a real engine that happily sings at 12000rpm and weighs next to nothing??? Still running.......... Quote
Two Dinners Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 There seems to me to be too many assumptions being made on D/tec and Vx parts on this subject. I will start with the Vx boys yes I think everybody is in agreement that this is a great engine to tune and produces power cheaply (relatively) but good things only last so long then one day something better comes along. Now for the D/tech boys if the power claims are true they are going to be an impressive engine. I have tried to help a Zetec owner get to the bottom of his under performing engine. His engine is about 30bhp down on the claimed output. This engine had been modified by one of the above mentioned engine tuners. It still is not producing the claimed power. I will stand by what I said in an earlier post time will tell. For my money I will be sticking with my currant engine and it ant a Vx or a D/tec. For those that are going the D/tec route good luck (I mean that in the nicest possible way) you are going to invest a lot of money in something that is unproven. I hope it works out as I think we should look forward to the future not backwards to the past for our engines. It would be nice if this engine takes us there. Hogman I can see the appeal of the BEC but its not for me and as this is a discussion about CEC I would guess most on this issue would agree. As a track car a BEC would be a consideration. Oh I am don’t even going down the road of engine x is lighter than engine y. Quote
Fast Westie Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 you are going to invest a lot of money in something that is unproven I believe they are already running them in a race series? Quote
