Duratec @ Raceline

Recommended Posts

Just Phoned Raceline to enquire how they were getting on with their Duratec installation & they have just about sorted it. :t-up:

They have put one in a Cateringvan (someone had to put a decent engine in one  ) with ally bellhousing to type 9!

All they need to do for a Westie is sortout the engine mounts & exahast primarys. ;)

It comes in 5 flavours all with DCOE type direct to head throttle bodies.

185bhp Standard engine with TB's

210bhp +Cams

220bhp +pocketing of pistons & valve springs

250bhp +new conrods & pistons & some headwork

280bhp +more headwork, cam followers etc.....

I think he said it would be £7K for a 250 version on a new engine, cheaper if you supply the engine :durr: .

Will post again when i get the info they are sending me.

Andy :D  :D  :D

I can feel a lightweight racer coming.

Andy :t-up:

210bhp should be cheap as it's only a new set of cams plus the installation costs i.e. exhaust, management, injection, engine mounts etc.... so not that cheap :arse:

Raceline stuff is realy nice, not the cheapest but you gets what you pay for in this life.

I assume Bananaman the figures you quote are for the 2.3 Duratec  :0???

185bhp Standard engine with TB's

210bhp +Cams

220bhp +pocketing of pistons & valve springs

250bhp +new conrods & pistons & some headwork

280bhp +more headwork, cam followers etc.....

If they are for the 2.0 or 1.8 then it will make the VX owners look a bit jealous

I would like to get the figures for the 2.0 Litre and 1.8 Litre engines assuming they are in the pipeline  :)???

Petrol.Head

these figures are for the 2L version.  :D

I asked about the 2.3 but they were of the opinion that it was a "Truck" engine & hard to get hold of. :arse:

still figures for the 2.0 seem pretty good. :D

I think that Minister might be doing some work on the 2.3.

I spoke to a guy from Birkin cars the other day & he said they were going to produce an independent rear end car with a 300bhp 2.3L Duratec weighing less than 500kg for 10k less than a R500. :0

So thats an R600 with a stonger/more powerfull engine @ 3/4 of the cost. Watchout c******m.

Gentlemen, I think we have seen the future.

My personal programme envisages a 220bhp 2litre Duratec installed by April 2004 - Motorsport news should be full of nice 2nd hand ones by then.....
