Fangi0
I have run this car since July 2006. I bought it for fun, excitement, performance and something I can and improve constantly without it costing me a fortune. It does all these thing and much more.History:Registered Sept 1989 as a 1400cc I believe. Later changed to 5 speed box and 1700cc engine. When I got the car it had this spec:Gearbox: 5 speed Sierra (sweet)Rear Diff: Ford Escort 3.89 to 1 (live axle)Radiator: Cortina, modified outlets and high density coreSteering rack: CortinaFront suspension: Cortina Front brakes: Escort mk2 Engine1600 crossflow bored to 0.090in (1700)Compression 10.2 to 1Camshaft: Kent cams A2Steel front pulleySteel rocker shaftSteel rocker postsHigh pressure oil pumpThermostat (now added)Head ported and polished and rimflow valvesFlywheel lightened and doweledCrank balancedElectric fuel pumpIgnition 34 deg advanced @ 4500 rpmIt said it had twin 40s but they have 35 chokes and they match the engine well. It has leather seats, green carpets, full harness Luke belts, roof and side screens in good condition plus side air deflectors for when it gets really hot. Nice little leather steering wheel, chrome suspension arms and silver alloy wheels. The exact milage is a mystery as the speedo hadn't been working since 1999 until I replaced it in 2007. During my ownershipSince I have had the car the brakes and discs have all been replaced. The dreaded trailing link bushes were changed on the rear endCarbs overhauledIt has a really nice solid stainless Cherry bomb silencer not the usual tin canAll new tyresI de-coked the car 3 seasons ago, head skimmed. (The engine has not been converted to unleaded but the valves were all in good condition and I use lead additives all the time and higher octane fuel)New head and manifold gasketsExhaust exit on cylinder head skimmedStarter motor overhauledReplacement electric fuel pumpReplacement speedo (see above)New gell batteryNew air hornsClean bill of health on last MOT and no advisoriesThis car looks classic and smart, everyone says so, it's a joy to drive, has great roadholding and blats along with a crisp exhaust note. It is as inexpensive to run as you want it to be but there is scope to do whatever you wish to develop it further.I have a pretty good service history and MOTs back to 1995Paid up member of the WSCC, membership transferable to new owner at no charge I understand and an essential part of Westfield ownership! Will I regret selling the car? - probably.
