RABoon
My car is back together following the blow up at Cadwell and we are looking for a gental run out over the weekend from Skipton. Which is likely to be the busiest day? Richard
Mike
I went today (saturday). was very dissapointed. wasnt much parking area, was a very small space for the amount of cars and people coming in. Felt a bit upstaged by the vintage tractor show! wasnt worth the £8 entry fee! hopefully next year they will put it in the larger area. mike
cast iron
Did the Auto 66 sprint on Saturday at Elvington then went across to Harrogate and camped out for the show. Spent the day with the Locust club because at least they like every other club had made the effort. WHERE THE HELL WAS OUR CLUB REPRESENTAION Mike why did you pay £8.00 when it was free for kit cars??
damianc
Turned up saturday 90 and they wouldn't let us in 'til 100 There must have been space for all of three cars in the Westfield area. Got round the stalls in 15 min flat, had a chat with a few people, then p******** off. Let's face it, it's deteriorating year by year NOT worth anything like £
Paul M
Have to agree with Damian, if this was an improved show thanks to the new organisers then we need the old ones back next year. Only 1 exhibition hall, next to no accessory/tool stalls. unbelievably cramped outside with all the cars stuffed into a tiny fenced off area and the rest of the showground completley fenced off so you couldn't get in. The only good part was getting free admission, you certainly get what you pay for.
Mike
it was free for drivers but passengers had to pay £8. there was no space atall to park with your club etc. and being told "can you park in that car park over there, theres loads of other kits there" was a bit bad. felt like there was no point in bringing the car if i couldnt park with fellow westy drivers. had walked round every were in 30 mins, twice! just incase i had missed anything. unforunately i hadnt. dont know if to bother next year. mike

Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO
WHERE THE HELL WAS OUR CLUB REPRESENTAION You were our club representation I hope you signed up loads of new members remember the club is run by the members for the members
Megablade Paul
Well said Paul, the club is what we make it. We went on the saturday 4 cars plus Scooby already there, but that's another story. £8 for my son as a passenger was a bit steep but he enjoyed it and there was a few Westfields in our official area. We were out for the weekend so headed out to the North Yorkshire Moors with a B&B Saturday night and had a great time with good company. It was good to see Eddie Kidd at the show in his wheel chair with the motorcycle stunt show but a bit sad really to see how he'd been affected by that almost fatal crash. cast iron
I believe local reps get banners and things to represent the club. Every other marque had some sort of stand or small tent where people could meet. Some had merchandise, MEMBERSHIP FORMS etc. I realy wouldnt of minded helping out. I just thought it would of already of been done. I spent the full 10 - 5 there. Some people were interested in my humble 1.6 Pinto car, comparing specs etc. I advised a couple of chaps to have a look on the website for membership details, and had a good look around other clubs and had general chats etc. The general consensus was Westfield drivers dont talk to anyone else and judging by previous comments I think some people have there heads stuck up there backsides. The show was what you made it, if you couldnt be arsed to talk to people then 1 hour would be all it lasted. As for getting your car on the pitch there were about 15 on it with some on the pavement, well at least they made the effort. I agree the club is what we make it. From Harrogate it looked amateur. I tried as did a number of others.
mark.anson
I went to the show on sunday.I enjoyed it as it was my first show, since joining the club, and it was handy to speak to the guy from Westfield whoI didnt know was going to be there.I was a bit suprised the club didnt seem to be represented in any great numbers, but to be fair I didnt get there to the afternoon. However I did get to speak to a guy (sorry I didnt get your name) who had a green Westy with a VX in it, which is what im will be doing.Took loads of usefull pics. damianc
To be honest I'd already made other arrangements and so had no intention of staying long. What little time I did spend there was talking to people, and would quite happily have stayed longer to socialise, BUT... I still think the show was poor and the space inadequate. Partly down to the organisers, and in part it seems exhibitors are no longer coming to the event. I doubt I'll bother next year
juansolo
However I did get to speak to a guy (sorry I didnt get your name) who had a green Westy with a VX in it, which is what im will be doing.Took loads of usefull pics. That was me! Hi. Despite loads of interest and a couple of people coming to look at it on the night, no buyers They wanted a track car but apparently it's a little too raw. Okaaaaay... What exactly are you expecting from a track car? I'm at the stage now where I think that people really aren't willing to pay for a sorted track car so if anyone out there has an Escort open diff going begging (I'm especially interested if it's still in it's casing and the bearings are in good order) give me a shout. That'll take care of the bulk of the noise. Also tempted by the mouse trap roll over bar in the parts section. That way I can refit the boot box and the people who think the bar is ugly (goodness me it's there to save your life, not look pretty) will be happy. Needless to say I'm a little frustrated at the moment Oh and the show was complete ****e.
Mark Williamson
I went on Sunday, Each club seemed to have the about same area as each other, therfore Westfields were scattered all over the place It took me 40 minutes to do two laps of the stands (I was carrying a cup of coffee) . I am only glad I did not pay £8 to get in. Mark.
